At the time that goal was disallowed, the Germans were rocking and I honestly believe were there for the taking. It would have been the biggest get out of jail ever seen mind, and would have done nothing to dispel the myth that England were hopeless. It would have simply shown the Germans as the very ordinary team that they are.

That’s what annoyed me about Sunday. We played absolute gash against a team that we could and should have beaten.

I would love to have seen what would have happened if the goal had stood because we were in the ascendency but I strongly disagree with the sentiment that the Germans are a very ordinary team.

They’re about as ordinary, efficient and impregnable as they are at every World Cup they take part in i.e. they are a very, very good side who happened to make England look the very, very poor side they are.

Lets just say the goal stood. Another was needed to win and despite all this wind knocked from their sails rubbish they didnt score another ! They are professional footballers who should have been sat down at half time and told Forget that goal now it didnt stand so lets regroup and get the job done. Instead they chose to roll over and showed no fight whatsoever. To say Germany are bad is just sour grapes to me. They have got further than England in every single World Cup since 1966 so what does that tell ya ! Germany tactically were far superior to England and simply sucked them into their own half in the second half with every intent of hitting them on the counter, which they managed to do twice successfully and it could have been a lot more ! Mourinho has proved that you dont have to play beautiful football to succeed, but you do need a game plan. As it happens Germany do put together some half decent moves but their strengths are in their counter attacks. England have been poor for several games now and there must be some underlying problem within the squad in my view ! It will be the same old story in a couple of years as it has been every couple of years since the one and only victory way back in 66

I do agree with those who say that the better side won regardless. Both because England were overhyped, overpaid and complacent and Germany’s team probably the exact opposite ( what a player that Ozil looked, a Turkish Andy Liddell )

However that period leading up to the disallowed goal was the one time they actually fought like lions and had they continued in that same spirit they may have got summat out the game. The injustice of that disallowed goal probably took a bit of wind out of their sails and with then always chasing the game second half against a decent counter attacking German side we were always susceptible to a third. Ability-wise even with a cack defence they should have been capable of giving the Germans a game but if you turn up believing your own hype against a side who always put in a shift then there’s only one outcome

The fact that this squad of millionaires only managed to give us ten or so minutes to get genuinely excited about in 360 minutes of football is a poor show indeed from people who have no concept of how fortunate they are. It’s probably as well they got booted out as they don’t deserve the support they got out there and back home.
