Saturday lunch, I had this thought. I know, I’ll take my 2yr son for his first latics kit. My initial instinct was to drive to JJB in Wigan. Walked in and saw Tottenham, Arsenal, QPR, Glasgow Rangers, city, everton, Liverpool, united and Blackburn kits. Also Milan and lazio kits. Wigan rugby also had a share of the floor space. So I proceeded to enquire about the latics section. I was surprised to hear that JJB are no longer allowed to sell latics shirts or produce. I was advised to go to the club shop at the ground. I drove across to the ground on a saturday at 1pm to find that the club shop wasn’t open. On asking ground staff nearby, apparently it only opens on game days. By this time my son needed dinner and I had to get home, so no kit.
Simply bizarre that JJB don’t sell latics gear anymore and even more shocked the club shop isn’t open on none match days.
It was good when vandanel were making the kits coz i got my first daughter a few bits & bobs.
When i went in the club shop in the galleries a couple of months ago all that was there were a few t-shirts & some old vandanel stock
Although I can see the argument that can be used that maybe vandanel went bust coz they produced alot of merchandise that nobody wanted
The adult stuff seems to have improved alot recently though & whilst I didn’t buy any there were a few bits & bobs that looked alreet
The club really should hang its head abit though by only being able to release a new kit for sale a month into the season especially when that kit will be obselete 8 months after you can buy it
Standish – I’m also positive that the club would not have wanted to release a kit so late in the day.
There are no doubt a few factors that may have contributed such as change in sponsor & Latics being involved in a relegation battle & a new kit to boot but their are other clubs who were in similar situations & yet its only Latics who have wound up in this position
Its a poor show from the club whether they intended it or not

QPR have not declared their first and second kits yet, and although they have now showcased a fancy third-kit it will not be available until 30 September. They state this is because they are still negotiating sponsorship.
technically as both clubs were in different divisions last season & QPR knew which division they’d be playing in alot earlier than latics, QPR were not in a similar position to Latics ;)
Why does Whelan continue to deal with `mickey mouse` kit suppliers like Vandanel and Mi-fit ffs?
Surely there would me much more kudos if he could strike a deal with a proper `name` like nike or addidas,Primark would be a better option than the crap we ave had the last few years!

I don’t think that we’re a club with a huge glut of would-be sponsors queueing up so if we get one that is prepared to pay more than 2 and 6 a season, then waiting a few weeks for a kit is not the end of the world.
