Because he will be managing us next season, you know. So we presumably have another 12 months of weak Spanish puns from you to look forward to.
I think it would have to be a huge u-turn even by Whelan’s standards to back-track on his constant statements that Martinez is safe even if we get relegated.
Think he’s here for a while yet.

Couldnt agree more, all the managers who have had a massive vote of confidence from their chairman and board have never been sacked.

i said it before and i will say it again and despite what whelan says now, he will sack martinez next season, then claim his disasterous reign was not his fault,
because he gave us fans ‘the peoples choice’,martinez will then don his ‘pagliaccio’ costume and boom out in a loud and clear voice ‘Vesti la giubba’ at that point everybody will then claim they never supported the clown anyway.
martinez will sit on the top table in wigan athletics history, along with bruce rioch and kenny swain.
