because he gave us fans ‘the peoples choice’,martinez will then don his ‘pagliaccio’ costume and boom out in a loud and clear voice ‘Vesti la giubba’ at that point everybody will then claim they never supported the clown anyway.
But surely if he is sacked then, for him, the show won’t be going on, will it?
So I’m not sure your attempt at highbrow humour works any better than your American Pie effort from earlier.
i think you if you bother to look further than your wikipedia fueled opinion, you may find that canio dons the clown outfit and makeup and proclaims that the show must go on without him, which i think is very apt in this case.

No I didn’t bother looking it any further, so I take it back and apologise. Well done you.

‘La commedia e finita’ was perhaps the song by canio i should have quoted this may have been a little more apt than vesti la giubba,
but the whole opera is a tradgedy, read that however you want.
I’ll read it as a spelling mistake ;)
so sorry not being a giant of the literary world has its downside.
i seem to remember you resorting to this tactic with young jimmy, but i suppose it adds to your self-evident feeling of superiority knowing others do something you don’t, make errors

LMB Fishing, route-one football, and now opera. You really are a man of surprising diversity.
standish two of my great passions in life are fishing and opera – sadly one of the others has been spoiled for me by the rubbish served up by its protagonists,
but you do me an injustice – like most, i neither like, or want to see route one football, nor do i want to see passing for passings sake with no end product
is it to much to ask for pace, energy, commitment, running with the ball at feet, crosses coming in and an odd goal or two and most of all not giving up and buckling when things dont go to plan, that has happened all to often since martinez took over.
LMB, I am genuinely stunned by the opera revelation. I respect opera, but do not find it in the slightest bit interesting or appealing.
A little bit like football perhaps? ;)
sorry did i say opera – i meant to say ‘oprah’ finest talkshow host in the world.
seriously listen to ‘che gelida manina’ from la boheme by puccini sung by jussi bjorling or pavarotti,it will be on youtube, and you may understand why it is my passion, add to that being brought up as a child sinatra, elvis or the beatles was not the music of choice in our household, it was gigli, carusso or di stephano, even so it took me many years to appreciate or understand why, but one cant legislate for taste.
LMB
I have a varied taste in music, ranging from 80s Pop to Classical or, Eurythmics to Elgar, however, opera has rarely hit a note with me (pun intended).
I’m sure there are performances that I would thoroughly enjoy (and I will listen to your suggestions), however I could not sit through a full opera, in the same way I couldn’t sit through a full Chopin concerto – even though I find piano music, in the most part, stunning.
There are few bands I can be bothered to go and watch. The band featured on my avatar is one who I have seen on many occasion, and who I have championed for a number of years.
I’ve heard some opera pieces, and I like them – but I couldn’t eat a full one. Perhaps it’s more a musical tapas I like, and maybe that’s why I like Martinez.

sw – if you get the oportunity try and go to see an opera in manchester – the productions there tend to be the more popular lighter operas by the likes of verdi, puccini or bizet, i have to admit that alot of the germanic or russian stuff is not to my taste.
