Latest version of verbal diarrhea in the WP https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/football/ian-lenagan-on-wigan-athletic-involvement-hopes-and-plans-for-future-3160135
You only wanted one thing, the stadium, nothing more nothing less. Stop trying you make out you have been tirelessly working behind the scenes to help save us, you haven’t.
You put a bid in for the stadium in the first instance, failed then tried to come in at last minute on loads of other deals to get the stadium. Probably putting off potential buyers or at best delaying things.
You say the two clubs are best independent of each other, that isn’t what you said 15 years ago. You hate the football club and all you wanted to do was own the stadium so you could make life harder for us. We see through you and treat you akin to the waste of oxygen that is Maurice Linsey.
I believe the two clubs will have to come together for the RL side to survive, they nearly bit the dust this year but for a backtrack by SKY. But I wouldn’t want anything to do with WRLFC whilst this latest snake is still there.
9 March 2021 at 10:24 pm #191653Lanagan always looks like he’s lying, I know people who were involved with the bids he was in with and he only had eyes for the stadium. He should have tried paying the debts he owed to us in back rent, heard two figures of £600k and £68k. I reckon its nearer the first figure, but even if it was the second, that amount would have been vital to us when we first entered admin, that’s more than Boro paid for Morsey
Away a lot, but always watching
10 March 2021 at 9:28 am #191654I think Lenagan did go into the first round of takeovers with the intention of taking on the football club as well, but then downscaled when he realised how much money it was going to take.
Everything I have heard was about him wanting the stadium nothing else. How does that help us out as a club?10 March 2021 at 9:43 am #191667Pollard can’t afford the football club but he probably would have bought us if he did. He’ll know exactly what it costs from his time at oxford and the efl.
Maybe he is one of the local investors the SC have been working with? If they can save the club but not the stadium then him coming in to buy that would be vital. He can’t shaft us as it all goes through the council.
Obviously the further away he is the better fr me as a saints fan, but i don’t think he is as bad as people say just because of his connection to the goons. They aren’t all bad, just most of them
10 March 2021 at 9:45 am #191668What is it about Wigan RL owners that make your skin crawl?
10 March 2021 at 10:29 am #191674Its a belief that theyre all maurice and all gate us. Same with the council. The leader of the councils a latics fan yet we still slag hom off
10 March 2021 at 10:31 am #191675Did himself no favours with his comments yesterday.Hope he is not interfering with this Bahrain bid it’s absolutely nothing to do with him. This is about what is best for Wigan Athletic not Ian Lenegan and Wigan Warriors.
10 March 2021 at 10:42 am #191676Pollard is arse licking around the Bahraini’s already, he is shitting himself in case there is a rent increase, End of!
He’s been on the radio this morning bleating that the government have not helped RL clubs financially during Covid, Aaaaww diddums, whats the matter funds running low?
Fuck the EFL
10 March 2021 at 10:51 am #191677“We’ve gone from us putting capital in, for the stadium or training ground for example, but we’ve never wanted to run Wigan Athletic.
In a nutshell.
——————————————————————————————————
“we can’t do without them, they can’t do without us”The increase in rent will come in handy no doubt, we can manage without you no worries!
Fuck the EFL
10 March 2021 at 10:52 am #191678Rugby Union got a massive stab of money but League didn’t get much apart from a loan last year.
To be expected with the size of the sport though and the governing body only has itself to blame.
IL will obviously want to look after Wigan RL. I’d imagine we would be the same roles reversed.
10 March 2021 at 10:52 am #191679Having a billionaire own 25% will keep us pretty safe though I would think.

Are we not in administration?
The new owners may wish to get rid of the rugby but if the lease doesn’t get past the council then they don’t get past the efl.
You may not like it bullitt (and some rugby fans may not like it also), but Wigan RL will be going nowhere.

Get him to buy you a new stadium or rent elsewhere then asap please!
Fuck the EFL
10 March 2021 at 11:02 am #191684Good idea.
The stadium was losing £750,000 a year with two tenants paying rent so it should run just fine with one tenant (or owner depending on how the new owners decide to run things)
As I said….like it or not the rugby are going nowhere.
10 March 2021 at 11:05 am #191685The rugbys rent BTW is a % of matchday ticket sales.
All monies on the concourse, hospitality, south stand bar etc go direct to the stadium company.
So that would be a minimum of 14 weeks of income down the drain plus the rent money.
And the stadium was still losing money.
