Club posts accounts showing big losses:

Club goes into administration and was reliant in funding of circa £2m a month to pay bills:

Stadium loses money despite rugby paying rent and needs work.

To sum up….having lost millions of late, the business plan is to remove a guaranteed income stream because of a 30 year grudge on a club no longer owned by the idiot that started it.
Next week on the intelligence of Latics fans:

I don’t want to be owned by the goons but rather that than not have a club.
As for them playing here, good. Charge them whatever rent we can and split the costs of the upkeep. Win win. (Plus its a good venue to visit when we give them a hiding every season)
The rugbys rent BTW is a % of matchday ticket sales.
All monies on the concourse, hospitality, south stand bar etc go direct to the stadium company.
So that would be a minimum of 14 weeks of income down the drain plus the rent money.
And the stadium was still losing money.
Is that why they rarely disclose attendance figures or say there were less on than there actually was?

I remember that. Was during some storm (or might have been a tube strike actually) and they played at home midweek. Literally an empty stadium and they announced about 60k. Gary Neville nearly pissed himself.

I work with a Worriers fan, the day after matches (before Covid) i used to ask if he went and how many were on, he didn’t know so we used to check on BBC, Sky, Racing Post etc websites, and everyone came up ATTENDANCE N/A and that was most home games, don’t tell me there’s nowt dodgy going on.

Standard response that in all honesty but all you can see is the seats around you.
From my half way line East Stand seat the East looks full. Watch back on tv and there about 4000 empty seats as only the middle few blocks are full.
Why would they lie about it because when the tax man comes calling they will want a percentage of a 10,000 crowd but there were only 8,000 on so they lose money and pay more tax than they need to.
Alternatively, they announce less and have to explain where £x has come from.

Completely agree ,especially in our Premier league days.The Rugby would declare a crowd just above ours but in reality the crowd was nowhere near the size of ours.We can’t start saying the opposite now !

That is why Lenagan conned the council into letting him use the RP Stadium next door, so he can start tapping into all the hospitality money and depriving us of that income too.
With regards to the Stadium not making money, that is down to one fella out of his depth. Clueless at how to manage a stadium or people. Andrew Birch.Had offers to host top sporting events, all sorts of daytime in the week stuff and priced the stadium out of it. I think WASC has had situations like that in the past, eg PIEGATE.
Get a decent stadium sponsor and it cuts the deficit by half at least, get events going on. Big boxing ring in the middle of the pitch in the week prior to the pitch’s annual relay. Darts qualifiers. Snooker qualifiers. Bloody tiddlywinks qualifiers.
Soon eat into the losses and could even provide a profit so that a maintenance programme could start, seeing as nothing has been done since it was built.
