Apparently the owner or Warriors is putting a bid together
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
7 July 2020 at 1:40 pm #187725Not ideal, of course, but if none of the other bids prove a goer then it’ll have to be
7 July 2020 at 1:41 pm #187726If he doesn’t give me a discount on my two season tickets then he can do one
7 July 2020 at 1:48 pm #187727Is he genuine or is he going to be another Maurice Lindsay

I’ve never once heard him speak badly or in a derogative way about Latics.
7 July 2020 at 1:54 pm #187730Dont see this working at all what we need in our darkest hour is a wealthy guy obviously but to keep being successful as well we need proper football people.Someone who wants to win like Mr Whelan did.
7 July 2020 at 2:00 pm #187731Wants to win?
Well under his stewardship Wigan have won 4 league titles and 2 challenge cups.
He’s turned us from a side that would be lucky to make the top 6 into a side cemented in the top 2.
The majority of our squad is Wigan born or produced through the academy with the odd major signing thrown in.
Off the field we are quite asset rich with Robin Park, Pemberton and Edge Hall Road.
7 July 2020 at 2:24 pm #187733Any port in a storm!!!….Whether they would have the wealth to run 2 clubs particularly us as football has certainly greater running costs is a question. Local though is 1 advantage……Who else has proved they meet the 10 mill criteria???? Koukash???….What about Mike Ashley anyone???
7 July 2020 at 5:15 pm #187735Sporting Wigan we could be called, a ‘Phoenix stand’ rising from the flames
7 July 2020 at 6:03 pm #187736I’m sure he’ll be asking other wealthy Wiganers if they want to form a partnership Ainscough ? Whelan?.
I think a football and rugby club both losing and in todays climate would take a serious amount of coin.
Would be be prepared at 74 years of age?. I’m sure he’s thinking others involved. He was already mentioning the sale of Robinson and Geldhart.Someone else has made enquiry rumour has it it could be Marwan Koukash
7 July 2020 at 6:28 pm #187738Koukash would be “out there” but he would spend.
I’d be slightly concerned about his thoughts on FFP seeing as he didn’t give a stuff about the salary cap. Salford were almost relegated because of it.
7 July 2020 at 6:45 pm #187739Koukash is undoubtedly minted but I think he may be a bit ‘excitable’ ?
Didn’t he fund Salford for a few seasons then just lost interest and walked, he may have done it in a more orderly fashion than the character who has dropped us in it …. but ?
Lenegan doesn’t have the money (he’s a few Bob in front of me mind) to buy and run a Championship club (if indeed we remain one).
He’ll be one of a consortium, assuming he can find enough folk with enough money to go in with him…..but there are three folk/groups who have apparently “shown the money” already and I’m guessing that his bid isn’t yet one of those to meet the criteria….but assume he’s still ‘in the betting’7 July 2020 at 7:16 pm #187740If the decision is between IFL and balancing tne books, or someone with loads of money that isn’t from Wigan then after this last fiasco I’ll take IFL all day long
7 July 2020 at 7:42 pm #187742Over the years, I have been quite critical of the rugby, as a hangover from the days of Lindsay and Robinson, when they would quite gladly have seen us fold.
However, that was then, and a lot of water has gone under the bridge since those days. There comes a time when you have to move on…evolve. If you dont move and evolve, you become a dinosaur. And they ended up extinct.
If it is how we survive and move on, then lets do it. If we can also have Hummel as kit supplier as well, it would be a bonus.
7 July 2020 at 7:50 pm #187743Koukash for me !
He’s quite enigmatic, and just loves winning !
I think he would bring a positive vibe to the club, rather than let’s batten down the hatches and settle for life in Div 1.
Okay he might be slightly eccentric, but like DW he is a self made man and so must have that determination & drive inside him.
Take a look at Mr Chester on you tube; it’s hard not to like his positive style. -
