Well it seems their very first announcement after taking over the club is to announce that the DW stadium with be used as a music venue throughout the summer months something I mentioned along time ago.
First and foremost, the IEC bought real estate capable of holding events that just happen to have some squatters playing football and an unkown funny sport. That is thier main business structure future plans and it was only a matter of time before they announced it.
Are squad will be based on how many tickets they can sell to a board of screaming kids that attend a Little Mix concert or some WWE TLC or even possibly x-games ?.

People coming up with ways of the club making money? Stupid idea.[/quote]
Lol, your late troller, normally your seconds behind my posts.

Make the club money ? my remark was to tongue in cheek. Do you honestly think the money they make from events will be invested in us ? pmsl, good un for you that :)

Their whole business structure is based around hotels and concerts events etc not buying football clubs and make millions. They always had an alterior motive a cheap way to buy an eventing stadia in the UK. They got an awful lot for what they paid.
The IEC ain’t a charity thier here to make money, no one makes money owning clubs like Latics.
Any more stu ?, keep em coming

Why did they not just buy the stadium then that until they did was a seperate company? Now Latics and the stadium are the same company so any money coming into the stadium comes into the club.

Of course they could choose to pocket that but thats their choice I guess.

I like IEC so far they stood their ground on the Grigg transfer and drove through a very hard bargain indeed .
Also looking at ways to make some money and maximise further income streams isn’t a bad thing given our financial plight.
I think they could do more with the East stand area and why not leave the concourses open for two hours after games so people can have a beer and a chat .
They could spruce these areas up to make them more appealing and encourage people to stay and have a drink etc.
It happens at other clubs I’m told and creates good revenue as well as creating a good atmosphere with the supporters.

So you wanna stand there till 7 say mid winter on a Saturday, freezing your ted’s off while drinking nats p1ss ?. I think by 5:30 you’d be on your mobile on your jack’s while everyone else are either at home thawing out or in a nice warm boozer chatting away.

The ale is crap but plenty still drink it (me included) so it might not be that bad an idea. Most people go the pub after the game anyway.

We never missed going in the old supporters club at Springy after the game it was part of the ritual. Then again it was a brilliant club and more preferable to the Plough in Shevy.

Supporters lounge under the south stand is open after every match.

To be fair Cup Winners, Dave Whelan had the very same idea not long after the stadium was built coz I was at a fans forum where he spoke about it.
Apparently it was vetoed by the police who said it would just be encouraging excessive drinking

Seem to recall that the Police & Council poured cold water on a number of reasonable ideas :( :( :(

That’s all well applying for the bar to be left open till 7 but how many would want to stop behind drinking dish water for 2 hours while freezing your buds off ???.

I go to socialise with my mates and do that in the bar after but uf the concourse was the only option then we probably would stay as there are no other pubs around the ground really.

Standing up isn’t so much fun though.

                  #177685

If the club in the south stand is open after games why the frig would you keep the concourse bars open. Makes no sense whatsoever.

The last place I would want to socialise after a game is the concourse. As for pubs not nearby ? Have you tried walking ?
