There is any money available for our manager in January which areas do you think he needs to be looking at? Personally, I’d like to see another striker brought in.

Fuck the EFL
14 December 2017 at 4:17 pm #164235A midfield general in the same mould as Morsey. Someone who can drive the team forward, unfortunately Power and Perkins are not the answer.
I also wouldn’t mind a tall bustling centre forward who will give us the option of putting in a big punt into the box when struggling to break teams down. I’m not a lover of this type of tactics or player, but you need it in your armoury.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!14 December 2017 at 5:47 pm #164236I think the only thing we really need is another striker.
We have adequate cover in midfield in my opinion – especially when Macdonald is fit again, we have enough cover for defence, and we have more than enough goalkeepers.
I doubt we’ll get wingers, as that’s not the way we play; Jacobs, Colclough and Massey are all encouraged to play further forwards and cut inside.
Realistically though, what striker are we going to get of any real quality in January that isn’t better than what we already have?

Josh Windass I read somewhere. PC rates him highly although I would imagine he could cost a bit so may be just speculation.

That lad who played up front for Fylde looked better than Toney, but then again I think I could give the useless lump a run for his money.
14 December 2017 at 10:51 pm #164242Would love to see a winger but we don’t play with wingers. Roberts,Byrne, Colclough, Massey and Jacobs have been known in the past to be wide men but at the end of the day Paul Cook doesn’t use wingers at all.
Secondly I would love a big striker preferably to play alongside Grigg but Mr.Cook wont entertain a strike partnership.
Alternatively a big striker as cover for Grigg or to bring on in desperation, but again I can’t see Mr Cook even entertaining this as he has Toney here until the Summer and also I don’t think he would change his style even in desperation.
May just have to bring Byrne back from Oldham.14 December 2017 at 11:35 pm #164243Two strikers and a midfield play maker
15 December 2017 at 12:10 am #164244Apart from the obvious (one/two strikers), I’d like us to add a midfielder who can get forward and pose a goalscoring threat from midfield, although we’re going well, think we all can see that none of midfielders bust a gut to get in the box and support the likes of Grigg/Powell/Jacobs. I know Powell is perhaps more of a midfielder than striker, but I mean someone who can compliment the work Morsy does but also pose more of a goalscoring threat instead of relying on Evans smashing one in from 25 yards.

Yes, he’s doing a great job where he plays now but I think we have others who can play that roll but none who will threaten like he used to do so often!

15 December 2017 at 2:23 am #164250Maybe by simply inheriting a strong squad for this league and from the board supporting him by not selling Morsy, Powell Burn Grigg and Jacobs last summer.
15 December 2017 at 2:24 am #164251Colclough and Jacobs and love him are hate him Massey do play most of time as wingers but we do need another winger and one other forward but ate most of you lot asking for major changes we are top by 4 clear pts on target for 100 goals on target for 100 pts and we have not hit top form week in week out yet and some games we don’t get out of 3rd gear so please for fcuk sake stop moaning and enjoy the ride
15 December 2017 at 2:37 am #164252I am not asking for changes. I have accepted this way of playing and I am not asking for him to change it. In this thread and others I quote the way I like to see us line up and the way I prefer to see us play but I am not asking for us to play that way. Why would I when we’re doing so well. Indeed after watching Tuesday night I was arguing against too many changes.
Just hope all the one up top, sideways passing, walk the ball around tippy tapping over passing lovers will be so accepting when in the future we return to a Paul Jewell type game.15 December 2017 at 2:43 am #164253Accepting? You do noute but complain.
And he has been a success everywhere so not all about a squad.
