Super Stu. Sending the squad on holiday when we had a minor cup game where fringe players could have played to get match time is good grounds to complain.
Then again almost throwing away an important cup match by playing fringe players and resting the main players and witnessing such an inept performance is good grounds for complaint.
Being bored by negative football (not so much this season) is also grounds for complaint.
You may also notice that along with Runcorn Tic he and myself are probably the first two to comment here when we win or play well. I don’t see everything through rose tinted glasses.
The title of this thread is If? So far you haven’t contributed to the thread. Please feel free to contribute to the subject. What do you think we could do to cement this promotion bid?

I think we’re OK to be honest and would only be bringing someone in if they’re actually going to be first choice. Despite the negativity on here I think our fringe players are good enough. Maybe not with 11 changes but if we needed to replace the odd 1 or 2 due to injury or suspension then we are more than capable of doing that as we’ve shown with suspensions to Dunckley, Morsy and Evans. Bruce, Power and Perkins can replace those 3 with ease and then we have Shaun MacDonald as well.

I think the one position we lack a replacement in is right back. Nathan Byrne is doing an OK job there but I would rather see a natural right back come in if possible.

Whilst Ivan Toney isn’t winning many people over, he has a couple of goals to his name and I think Noel Hunt could grab a few as well. If we did bring another striker in then they would only be second choice to Grigg anyway so not sure one would want to come in and sit on the bench. Worst case scenario we can always shove Nick Powell forward and use Gary Roberts as the number 10 (another who I think gets some unwarranted stick) which should be enough.

Agree eggy. We need a settled squad not loads of changes every window. Sure people moan when we do that

And that is what will more or less happen Egg Mon. More or less what I said. Keep it positive and cast away those negative vibes lads.

Just what we need Stu a settled squad but rest 8 or 11 every now and then. Thanks for contributing to the thread.

Do you honestly think that we only ever train with the first choice XI and don’t try things out on a daily basis? There might be a few changes to the side but it’s totally different to changing the entire squad and starting a fresh.

Eight rested in midweek, Eleven rested against Accrington.
              That’s happened Stu.

And do you think that the eleven who played Tuesday had never trained together or played a training game in that lineup?

No Super Stu I often watch them all train together. Did Tuesday impress you Stu lad?

I hope the January window I about forward planning. It has the potential to be disruptive and short term. In my view the squad is good enough to win the league, despite one r two shortcomings. We should be using this window to sign players that we can with us next season so getting a running start for next season rather than signing when players get back from summer hols. It will be difficult to sign players on the promise of promotion, but that would be my preference. I would rather not sign anyone than inflate the squad with players that we will have to get rid of if we go up.

You make some good points there. And i agree, get players in now who will help with the promotion push & beyond.

Being top of the league SHOULD mean that we dont sell anyone. But, this is wigan.
