      Where is this data from and what do they mean by “local postcode”? Is it, for example, just WN or is it WN5 as it could make a difference to some of the clubs because of their location (might be on an idustrial estate. Is it actually saying that our average fan lives 18 miles away from the ground? Find that hard to believe

      I presume they mean a WN postcode, and I take it the figures mean registered fans – ie. on the club’s database – rather than season ticket holders.

      That being in the case, even if you had, for example, 25,000 registered Wigan fan who all lived within a mile of the ground, you’d only need 50 or so registered fans in Australia and you’ll not be far off an average of 18.

      If the figures refer to season ticket holders, then I’d find them a bit dubious.
