Eddie Calvert was born in Preston.

Oh Mein Papa was played as a fanfare at Tom Finney’s funeral.

    Very moving.

Here’s another bird. Notice anything different from your regular swans?

This bird has been resident on the Ribble at Ribchester for a few years now. Always cadging bait.

    Name please.

Black beak and legs. Trumpeter Swan – North American bird normally so what’s it doing over here??

    Is it Edinburgh?

    What’s this then Bird Lovers?

    Yes, edinburgh.

That’ s a very good picture of a Nuthatch.

If you have been to Derby or Nottingham, for example, watching Latics then you might know where this is.

    Correct pal. Well done.
The old A50 bridge over the River Dove. One of my favorite rivers.

Believe it or not we came home past that bridge on the way home from Wembley on Saturday night.

John do you still catch massive grayling at Doveridge?, over 20 years ago when I used to fish there a lot all you could catch was big chub or big ‘ladies of the stream’, that was pre Barbel days, are they the main quarry now ?

I remember my mate having a right angry exchange with a bloke there while we were having a walk up and down the Albert stretch seeing what was going on.

This bloke replied when we enquired had he had owt “had a couple of big grayling, I’ll show them to you”, instead of going into his keep net as I expected he lifted his fishing box lid and brought out the biggest 2 grayling I had ever and still have ever seen, but he had knocked them on the head to take home to eat, they were both well over 2lb quite possibly 3lb.

Now I am not one who would pull anyone up for taking a pot fish, but it just seemed tragic to kill two specimens like these, my mate just blew his top, I thought he was going to kill the fellow.
