If anyone is still doubting whether the powers that be at WAFC don’t care and are willing to let this great club of ours slip down the leagues, then, after this deadline day all their worries should have faded away.

Adam Forshaw, Andy Delort, William Kvist and now Emwr Huws signing permanently.
Excellent business and well done to Dave Whelan, The CEO and Uwe Rosler. Exciting times ahead.

      Good post, horc.

Now then. If anyone disagrees, then say so now. The thank yous seem to indicate that in general we think the dealings have been good. Correct?

What always happens of course is that if it goes pear shaped for any one, then some smart donkey on here says “I knew it wouldn’t work. Why did we buy him? We should have (usually written as ‘of’) bought X. I knew it all along.”

So come on. Let’s be having you. Speak now or forever hold your peace about how you always knew….

Good signings apart from Huws jury is out on him I’ve not seen him take a good corner or free kick yet (wasn’t at Birmingham work)but he’s young and his best years are ahead of him then again I thought Holt would be a good signing as well as Fortune .

No mention of McArthur going for 7mill and paying for all this though? Excellent business if it comes off and I’ll doff the cap if we go up this season. Once again net spend nil.

Of them all I think Delort looks like a goal sniffer, evil little git that we need. Whether he’ll play him with Riera is another matter.

As far as I know, we kept Ramis, which is our best bit of business.

Not sure about Huws myself. If he was bought on the cheap then not really a problem I guess! The gaffer obviously sees something in him to keep picking him and so who am I to argue that but a few folk I know have shown the same concerns as myself! Does anyone else think that he has the same hairdresser/barber as Joe Hart! I know nothing of the other signings apart from the fact that Forshaw got player of the year last season in League One but I have never seen him play! The other 2 are even more alien to me!

I’m not 100% sure about Huws either. I’d be more confident with him if body parts were available in the transfer window as well as players and we could have bought him a right foot. It would’ve been 5-0 Saturday if he had one.

McArthur going can’t be a good thing in any way and time will tell with regards to how much we’ll miss him. As for the other signings, pretty much unknown entities all in all and, again, we’ll find out soon whether or not they can cut the mustard.

Not only that Tez, I also think that it has been shrewd business bringing in the other young players, regardless of competition. We all know that we like to nurture our young stars and I can see us making a decent profit on all three (Delort, Huws and Forshaw) when the time comes to sell them – which is inevitable of course (and proper progression for the players).

Really looking forward to the rest of the season, however, it is up to Uwe how he manages the players and his match day line-ups, let’s hope he gets the right mix.

Good bit of business & the fact we have kept maloney, macca & ramis is brilliant. If we are in the top 3 – 4 at xmas i reckon we can manage to keep hold of these 3 & strive for our promotion push

                  well im not too sure
a player already with us, and one nearly over the hill, and two from a lower level unproven. ;)

                    Now, that is a surprise.

Can’t believe you said he hasn’t taken a decent free kick, his free kicks have been really dangerous, have you been to the games?….

I think we should have signed another left back, Perch could probably fill in there if needed.

As you are all aware i am of the firm belief that Whelan is ONLY in it for the money. And i stand by that view, However selling an ‘ok’ midfielder for 7m and replacing him with a proven holding player and 3 potential superb signings is a great bit of business for the good of the club not Whelan.

The fact that McManaaman is still at the club astonishes me. He is (in my opinion) the best winger in the country and i can’t believe he is still in the championship. The current squad is the strongest for a few years. Gotta give Coyle some credit, Among the crap he brought in, He also brought a few very good players. He just didn’t have a clue how to manage them.

                      Here it is again

Yes, Whelan makes an absolute fortune out of this club

You are entitled to that opinion Yosser, but unfortunately your opinion is wrong. There’s not even any debate about it. It’s there in black and white for all to see, and even a bit of fag-packet workings out prove it.

What Whelan has got from the club is the one thing he loves more than money: fame and the opportunity to appear on TV at the drop of a hat.

Without Wigan Athletic he’d be virtually unknown outside the borough of Wigan.
