Still think that the surrounding clubs have equally tough, if not tougher games.
It’s a must win tomorrow.
Need to drop Fletcher and then we might eek out a win.Could this the greatest escape of all our escapes ?
14 April 2023 at 5:21 pm #199311“A must win game” We’ve been saying that for weeks, “Bambi Fletcher should be dropped” We’ve been saying that for weeks.
It’ll be the same line up, tactics and formation, we’ll be lucky to get a draw, the only difference Maloney has made is we dont concede 4 or 5 goals anymore.
Fuck the EFL
14 April 2023 at 5:22 pm #199312Sorry to burst your bubble Lostock hope I am wrong but I reckon owners want us in league one in order to survive
They can’t sustain us in the championship lack of funding ie team strengthening has proved that
Not nice to admit it but I think this is a reality of our situation
But hope I am proved wrong but I think I am right and maloney is well aware of the fact14 April 2023 at 5:30 pm #199313maloney is well aware of the fact
Hence Maloney flying out to meet the owners in Bahrain a few weeks ago.
I’m not taken in by Maloney’s post match bullshit, he set us up to lose on Easter Monday and will probably do the same again tomorrow, if Bambi is in the starting eleven then that’s deffo the case!
Fuck the EFL
14 April 2023 at 5:51 pm #199314I can’t see us scoring another 3 goals this season, never mind get another 3 points.
While I can’t eat my own words if we do escape, I might try to drink them!
14 April 2023 at 5:55 pm #199315No seriously you think it’s not over ?, I think someone’s laced your Easter egg with serious sh1t.
5 games to go 8 points off safety and Cardiff have a game in hand ?.Now you might say “Some teams have a hard run in”
Granted, but have you seen us play ? FFS, Jesus Christ, we have a forward who has scored 2 in 25 appearances and is first in the team sheet. Infact if he broke his leg In training he’d still get picked. Then you might say well he works hard, zero assists ads to what a disaster he is.
Mark my words he will start and I don’t give a flying fcuk if he hit 5, the damage was done
in the 25 games were he scored 2.
For us to catch up with those above mainly Cardiff they have to lose but more to the point we have to score and win at least 4.Don’t live in denial were down just were the owners wanted us. This way they can slash the wage bill and sort the finances out.
If they wanted us to stop in the Championship they could have borrowed the wages like they said, they knew the money was on its way just case of when.
In footballing money terms it wasn’t billions a month’s wage puts us on 37 points.
I’m going tomorrow but I’m gonna avoid the Laughing Man in the fair, I’m not having him take the p1ss as well if we lose
14 April 2023 at 6:09 pm #199317Maybe we could put some donkeys from the beach out?
14 April 2023 at 6:17 pm #199318Edwards that’s a bit harsh on the donkeys
14 April 2023 at 6:56 pm #199319For me it was over when the very ordinary Hull City arrived just after Christmas and made the team look like eleven junior school kids having a match against their Dads.
The present team is completely hopeless at this level and we have all known it for months.
No pace , no goals and more chance that the sun will disappear forever than this lot being able to do anything or even muster some hope.
League 1 return and with 6 or 7 kids coming in not expecting anything and I’ll take mid table mediocrity right now!14 April 2023 at 7:24 pm #199321Anything is possible but not this. I know Maloney’s mentor is your hero Roberto Al but he is as green as Kolo and as Stubborn as Cook so I think this is probably a bridge too far and it should be time now just to play the players who will be here next season.
15 April 2023 at 7:17 am #199323Might be a first here, but I agree with Bullitt and Bickymon.
You are fucked and have no chance of staying up. I looked at the fixtures last month and thought “after Sheff Utd, they are very winnable”, but that was before the wages debacle and points deduction. Beating QPR (just) was a dead cat bouncing. Losing to mid-table, on the beach Swansea was the nail in the coffin. Today against Blackpool you are playing for 23rd place.
Go down, stay down, rebuild, develop a robust youth system, a model which doesnt involve signing a squad full of thirty-somethings on stupid wages, and enjoy watching the youngsters develop. Then come back up when you know you have a championship quality squad that will easily survive. There’s a phrase “if you’re good enough, you are old enough”.
15 April 2023 at 5:26 pm #1993243 minutes past 3 and it is now.!!!!……Struggling for words. No Pearce….Whatmough off and on comes Mr no goals. Our hopes died there and then. 50 years and struggling to remember a goal shy team like this. Hughes…..f### off the rest …..Midfielders just water carriers…..day summed up near end Aasgard rolls his man…..open turf to run at…..so doubles back…….f####### amateur. Nyambe numerous chances in space to cross…..goes back. F####### championship laughing stock…..and if Maloney doesn’t resist some of his selection stubbornness……could be league 1 whipping boys. No way could we be crapper than against Swansea……….managed it though…….
15 April 2023 at 5:54 pm #199325Blackpool didnt have to do anything once that goal went in.
Never have I seen a poorer Latics side and there has been many over the years but few as bad as this one!
Play the kids next season and it’s probably league 2 but a least they will fooking try !!!!15 April 2023 at 8:22 pm #199327Most ineffective strikers we’ve had for years. Magennis always jumped way too late for flick on headers……winning 0,twice hurting himself in the process. Aasgard might as well have been sat with me. Maloney managed a full 25 minutes before Fletcher withdrawal symptoms kicked in. My stomach churned cos as soon as his studs touch turf we are completely F######. Naylor??? So what exactly is his roll. Looked to me like negative set up but to be fair he’s given most a chance and they’ve failed miserably. Really looked forward to today, nice weather, few beers and winning the “Wooden spoon El Classico”…..3 F####### mins it took us to lose that game and his 1st substitution confirmed it. Boy!!! has Maloney got a huge task with still quite a few dollopers still under contract .Like his words but let’s hope they’re not hollow…….we are absolutely shite…..and he really needs to cut out the dead wood and be ruthless!!!and I mean Ruthless.
16 April 2023 at 7:12 pm #199351I listened to a recent Warnock interview after Huddersfield won 3 in the bonk after he took charge. When he was asked:
“What’s your secret ?”
He replied,
“I play players in their correct positions. If he’s a left back then he plays in that position plus I give them believe I’m a great man manager”.
For me Huddersfield made the correct choice. A fully experienced manager who’s done this saviour job upteen times and on an end of the season contract.Maloney should have been given same or 12months extendable but 3.5 years ? Naaaaaaa we’ve got it wrong again.
These owners I’m sorry will have to spend this summer to sort out the mess, let’s face it, they created. If they don’t then L2 will be very achievable because even L1 is getting super competitive
