Wigan have made an offer for Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone, which has been described as ‘insufficient’ by Levante. Kone has also been linked with Fulham and Tottenham, but is reportedly keen to join Wigan after speaking to Roberto Martinez. Levante are prepared to sell, but are rumoured to want £7.1m, with Wigan having offered an initial £4.8m. (Sky Sports)

I first heard of this player a few years back, when he was at Roda JC in Holland. I think he’s a decent enough player, but then again when you look at his nomadic career, he’s not too far away from being another Henri Camara.
Granted, Camara was more than a decent player for a season or two, but I just think Kone may be littered with the same type of baggage as Camara, I.E. late back from international duty. And speaking of international duty, I would rather us not sign any African players. No, no racial motive behind me saying that. It’s just that they go away to the African Nation’s cup in January, and can end up missing crucial matches in the run-in at the ‘business’ end of the season.

I think there are better options over here already.
