Great sign of intent by the club if we do get him but the longer it drags on the more chance of us being gazumped…..same applys to the protracted Lowe pursuit. Hugill will be extremely difficult one for us simply cos of his present wage and bigger clubs circling. Would be a great achievement if we get a result but I fear a Leeds,West Brom may be more attractive to him.

Hugill 29 goals in last 140 games in championship.
32 goals in last 101 games for Leon Clarke at same level. 40k a week be an absolute steal.
I don’t understand why we even enquired about Hugill when we knew how much he is on a week. We have wasted time and are no nearer a striker coming in. Did we really expect West Ham to pay most of his salary. If we end up with Clarke heaven help us. There simply has to be better players than him around in the lower leagues.
Not saying Clarkes the answer but we lost 4 games from the last 17 when he joined. He scored 3 with 2 assists. Not great but certainly not as bad as what some on here suggest.
Not for me…….Hugill like Gallagher probably aiming too high financially so being we are not party to any negotiations can’t really comment on reasons for deals failing. Lowe as well seems to be faltering as we still allegedly not met Portsmouth’s 3 mill valuation. Season now edging nearer so can’t help thinking albeit simplisticaly if we not willingly to stump up then ffs move on .
Deal for Hugill could now be back on. We are rumoured to have come back with an improved offer which has been accepted by west ham.
