I think its fair to say he isnt everybodys favorite! This season he has started 9 games in which we have 12 points, we havent got a single point in any of the games he hasnt started. Coincidence or is he having a positive effect when he plays?

TBH I like Gomez, I think he adds a bit of quality and guile to our midfield. However, in the last two games he has clearly shown his main weakness and that is no willingness, urge whatever you want to call it to get stuck in and put a foot in when its needed. In my opinion he’s a slightly better version of Jason Koumas.
I reckon with a hard working midfielder in that team yesterday, say of the likes of James McCarthur , we would have won the game far easier than we did.
In the Prem league these days there are very few “luxury” type players in any teams,even someone like Berbatov tracks back and closes people down.Unless we ever get to a level whereby we can afford a luxury player in our team, I would keep JG on the bench for the time being.

I don’t hate him but he is never a Premiership player and he is not getting better the team is getting worse so he doesn’t look as bad.
I’m not a Gomez fan but got to say he is playing well at the moment. People expect him to play like Moses and get aggravated when he doesn’t charge forward with it, but what he is good at is keeping possesion of the football, very rarely plays a bad pass. Decent free kicks and confident pen taker. He’s never going to be biting in the tackle but the best midfields are usually made up of different types of player, so worth his place in my book.

Judge him on his current form not on what he’s done or not done in the previous seasons. Deserves his place at the moment – simple!

It’s easier to play well in a team that are playing well. Gomez is playing well this season as the lads around him are putting the jard work in and he can concentrate on what he does best.
