Anything that hits the back of the net is a good goal but the City pen was a poor penalty for me , you hit it hard and right in any of the four corners and if the keeper saves it hats of to him , that’s my preference .

The duke used to roll them in can’t remember any misses, to be fair holt Watson and Gomez have all succeeded until the last two, think Ali has saved more than that too.

Easily said typing on here… :S

Hit it hard into the corners greatly increases the chances of missing the target. Straight down the middle will score nearly always…eg Gary Linaker v Cameroon.

Do prefer a bit of power though, wherever it’s hit B)

A point was all we deserved and surely we won’t play as badly as that on Tuesday against the best team in the division.
fantastic saves from Ali and some good defending mean the point is a bonus one and I wasn’t too disappointed at the end .

How can it be a good thing Jordi won’t be here next season? He’s by far our most influential midfielder. His control of situations is superb, his first touch, his vision, he’s always looking for creative options. I can’t see what’s not to like. Even his work rate’s improved under Uwe. We always look a more balanced team with him in it. He has a knack of winning free kicks in dangerous positions, and is the best free kick taker (Maloney aside) at the club. He’s got a pretty decent goal scoring record too.

There you go, Jordi Gomez, sign him up!

Can’t believe what I’m reading here.

At the City game all the commentators were saying “that’s how to take a penalty – calm and collected – brilliant”.

And now he has once again become the target of negative comments because of a fine save by a keeper – it’s not as though he ballooned it over the bar.

            Sheesh”

Got to say, that like many of us, I can’t claim to be an immediate fan of Jordi Gomez. However, I think his application is far better under Uwe than it ever was under Roberto ( maybe too much of a “friend” thing going on there ); hence I would like to see him stay.

Having just watched the highlights this morning on the FLS, to be fair it was a bad penalty as he hit it at what is known as the ideal height for the keeper to save a penalty.
I’m just wondering if say for eg fortune was our regular penalty taker, would he be berated as much as senor gomez for missing 2 consecutive penalties – probably not.
Everytime i watch gomez during a game i fear for him if i’m being honest because its as though people actually want him to stuff up all the time – yet when he does an excellent defence splitting pass or some other hint of tactical genius which he is capable of (not all the time i admit, but then again name me 1 footballer who can play brilliantly for a full 90 mins), the crowd remains quiet.
I’d love nothing more than on tuesday night we are awarded a penalty & gomez steps up, smashes it in & shuts you moaning f***kers up. But, one thing about gomez (& watson for that matter) is that they never ever go hiding during a game.

I doubt Uwe will sign Gomez at the end of the season if we happen to go up because he would be out of his depth in the Prem, we all know that already ! He is however a pretty good Championship player, one of the best midfielders in the division in fact ! As for yesterday, it would have been harsh on Bolton had we nicked all 3pts! On to Tuesday, we are unbeaten at home under Uwe so it will be interesting !

He’d look far better in the Premier than he did last time round if Rosler created a team full of vey fit, willing runners…..he gets caught on the ball mostly because he’s holding it, waiting for one of the statues to come to life !
We finally started playing and dominating over the last 25 minutes and he was always on the ball and running the team. He did exactly the same at Forest. He is the most important component of the team

Unfortunately for Jordi we have some supporters who have the intelligence of one of Pavlov’s dogs.

No matter how well he plays , and recently he’s been outstanding , a mistake in the 85th minute of a game and the dribbling canines are at it again and he’s f****** useless.

                  They simply can’t help themselves.

                  Woof

                  Ooo, ‘eck – tin-hat on, lad ;)

                  You’re spot on though.

And for both those penalties he has missed, the keeper pulled off fantastic saves.

That said, I thought he had one of his poorer games yesterday, but he wasn’t on his own. Beausejour somehow made Hutton look like a professional full-back!

                    Maybe he faced poorer keepers?
