20 August 2009 at 10:30 pm #5840My question was how did Gomez get MOTM? I would have been hard pressed to pick 1 after Tuesday’s nightmare but i don’t think he was the best Wigan player on the pitch.
Because it probably was picked by some bint on the arm of some bloke who was flashing the cash in corporate on the strength of him having nice long hair and a swarthy complexion.
If you think Tuesday was a nightmare, I suggest you go and watch Bolton. I enjoyed that game on Tuesday more than I have a for a long time. I’d rather lose playing like that than draw playing like we did last season.
And I think, given time, we’ll win more than we lose playing that way.
20 August 2009 at 10:46 pm #5845Griff,
I actually don’t think we played that bad, did we?
Christ, I think some people need a reality check. Do the knockers not remember when we had players like Mick Kennedy and Brendan Ormsby playing for us? Richard Brolly? He was once our ‘exciting new signing’ from America. (INDOOR league!) Dare I say most of the knockers weren’t around in those days?
I also recall turning up for a pre-season friendly and a lad I knew was almost wetting himself with excitement at our “New Centre-Forward”.
The player was Pat Gavin.

I know Vidic and Ferdinand may still be out, but do you reckon Pat Gavin would have beaten them for pace and power?

Think you should get a grip keep going on about the early90s when we had no money, now we have plenty of cash and still buying shite, bramble played like robertson on tues night always kicking it into touch, think you should compare our midfield now and what we have had in the prem years and i feel our current midfield wouldnt stand a chance.

Ok then ill put my glasses on , we played well on tues, If i would have been an outsider looking in, I would have said down by xmas, but eh im a latics fan , so that means i cant have an opinion only the one of mr dw, get real,21 August 2009 at 5:56 am #5904Not read all of the posts because i really cant be arsed….but i dont think it was a good performance by our team and every ball we tried to play long to the flanks went out of play… we didnt keep the ball in midfield and to answer the first post….. Gomez did not look that good but he did look good against Villa… everybody looks average vs Wolves…give Gomez time he may be good….but he was by no means MOTM and by no means good Vs wolves

21 August 2009 at 1:24 pm #5930Where DID my ‘tache go?
21 August 2009 at 1:40 pm #5931Sorry, and this going to sound insulting, but if you didn’t think Gomez had a good game on Tuesday you must have been facing the wrong way.
His first touch was excellent, some of his passing was great, he was at least looking for scoring ops and he never stopped working.
Turn round in future!
21 August 2009 at 2:57 pm #5946Spot on, that.
I think that come January, we’ll do well to keep him.

This is even funnier than the last one !!!!
5 February 2010 at 12:24 pm #21549How the hell did he get MOTM? He can’t tackle and his sole contribution was to pass the ball back to Bramble and Scharner every chance he got. I thought Bob said he was a creative midfielder. I know it’s early days and we have to give him a chance but he don’t look anything special to me.
Get a grip, he’s f**kin class.
One of the best players, on the ball, we have ever seen in a Latics shirt. Never stopped running, never stopped looking for openings, the guy is quality. A very intelligent player.
Have a bit of patience, for f**ks sake![/quote]
Sorry Vat69 but not sure what you have been watching this year but Gomez is absolute rank.
Can’t tackle, head a ball, pass a ball forward, milk turns quicker never looks like scoring yeah he has been a revelation.
And yes I do remember Pat Gavin, Jeff Wright, John Robertson etc. Gomez is just not good enough for the Premiership FACT!!!!
5 February 2010 at 12:34 pm #21555Anyone who states an opinion is a FACT (no matter how many exclamation marks follow it) deserves to be ignored.

And if I should be ignored then why didn’t you?
Just a question.
