Anyway, the subject title doesn’t mention our beloved Bobby. It must be the PR crew screwing your subliminal mind again.
So, who/what is the poll about? No wonder nobody can be arsed voting on it.
You just can’t resist clicking on & posting can you. It’s almost like the PR crew are toying with you like a little puppet. How apt that you associate the “PR crew” with toys. Seriously, I thought you were about my age but now I’m thinking you must be that teenager who sometimes comes to the Brick with Phil and Jeff. Grow up, you buffoon.
Wrong barking tree up the !! ;)
No, I know it isn’t, just seems like it could be. With all due respect to the “teenager”, of course. ;)
Brick, Boxing Day?

Some of the greatest ever games came under his tenure Arsenal 2010, West Ham 2011,Arsenal 2012 ,Utd 2012 and obviously the cup final victory.
And not forgetting some of our most embarrassing ones as well (Chelsea, Spurs, Blackpool etc) plus the annual 4 or 5 Utd got, and not forgetting the other 100+ boring mind numbingly dull displays.
So I suppose if you only look at 10 or so of the 150+ matches he was manager and disregard the rest totally, then I suppose he was legendary??
You do realise he was managing Wigan Athletic, not Real Madrid?
He did four years keeping us in that league. He stuck around to make a fist of it for a lot longer than those other supposed great managers Jewell and Bruce did. First signe of a bit of bother and they were off. F****** Judases!!
23 December 2013 at 1:25 pm #125227Some of us remember Jewell playing for us in his younger days,Autowindsscreen trophy,F,A cup year when we just got beat of Leeds. Then he came back to gain us a couple of promotions includeing the one to the prem, carling cup final. We know who Judas is????? ;)Merry xmas.

Well if RM isn’t a legend then this club has never had one. Question is simple which other Latics manager has ever emulated his achievements?
PJ is the only one who can even be put in the same category.
Yes RM is deffo a legend and will always be one for the FA Cup success. :cheer:
As for his EPL exploits he is the only manager to get us relegated from the top tier of English football. Yes he managed to beat all of the top four teams in his 4 year tenure, but also got us some record tonkings on the way, including an 8 or nine match losing run. Not sure if that makes him a legend or not. :(
PJ didn’t hang around to see if he could keep us up a second time and yes RM took us down. But for 3 seasons he kept us up always against the odds, why don’t some people accept this? If you round it all up at say for easy reckoning 40 million per season, along with the 2 yrs parachute payment he has generated in the region of 200 million quid for the club.Add on the prize money for winning the cup and tele money for the Europa games im thinking maybe the guy done ok.
AAs for Judas owd spud yead soon give back word first stint after making up the player release list and fooked off quickly so like I asked earlier “has any former Latics manager done any better”? Surely this has to give RM legend status.

But for 3 seasons he kept us up always against the odds, why don’t some people accept this? The vast majority do. It’s only a few bitter people on this forum who, coincidentally, all seem to play together – thank Christ I don’t know where that pub is – and don’t seem capabale of having their own thoughts. One of ’em thinks something up, the others have to agree.
Most neutral observers seem to find it surprising that Martinez stuck with us as long as he did before trying to further his career.

You only become a bitter person when something happens to make you bitter. Check all the lightside / darkside threads and you will see that I was totally behind Bob 100%. Me you, Standish and a few others, fought long and hard to get some posters to understand Bob’s philosophy and tactical approach. He had a vision and stuck to it come what may and tbh, it was that stubborn attitude, that eventually cost us our place in the EPL.
As for this poll, you seem to belittling the posters who think he was a judas. The fact is that “at the moment” the majority of posters seem to have the view that he jumped ship when Wigan Athletic finally became a poisoned chalice and would no longer be an asset to his CV.
You claim that the vast majority of neutrals can’t understand why Bob stayed with us so long, well I’ll try and explain. He had a Chairman / friend that stuck by him when times got tough. Any other chairman would have sacked him long before the FA cup success, 9-1, 8-0, 8 straight defeats, etc. etc. He even told the world that Bob would manage a top 4 club, bumming him up to the hilt. How do you tell DW that you are leaving when he has single hand-idly helped to put you where you are?.The poll may change as more posters can be bothered to take part, but at the moment, like it or not, the votes have shown that there are quite a few supporters who didn’t like the way Martinez dumped us.
You know me Griff, I have my own opinions and have agreed with your views / posts on many occasions, you have a good knowledge of football, but don’t forget there are a lot of others on here that also know their stuff and are entitled to their opinions even if it goes against what you think.
Anyway, I’ve noticed you have not voted yet, you’ve shown enough interest in this debate so get voting and close the gap!. B)

When we win the FA Cup by beating one of the most expensively assembled teams in the history of football, it’s all credit to a sbgle footballer who is usually roundly slagged off by all and sundry on this forum – a player who was brought on as an impact substitute late in the game by a “technically inept” manager?
Utter, utter bollocks – no wonder Horc agrees with you.
