Chris is the least of our worries.

    Eh?

Kirkland makes the odd mistake, just like every goalkeeper does, but he’s one of the best keepers in the Premier League.

Let’s not just criticise everybody now because things aren’t going so well. Have a breather, think about it, and you’ll come to your senses.

Are you mad, man utd, chelsea and tottenham e.t.c would cringe at the thought of him even being their number 2 or 3, he is by far the worst keeper in the league

I think Kirkland is definately in the top half of Prem keepers, it’s only his injury situation that has held him back, not the best at coming out for crosses but the criticism he’s getting from some on here is totally over the top and unjustified.

He is a poor keeper in my opinion.

Now, I am not saying everyone who thinks he’s good is wrong as we all have opinions but, for me, Kirkland is a very poor keeper and I would drive him to Sunderland is they offer £5m in the summer.

I was at the game on Saturday and as someone has stated previously Kirkland is the least of our worries but the goals he let in were partly his fault. The 1st goal went straight through him, he couldn’t save a penalty save his life, the 3rd was poor positioning, giving Muamba an easy placed shot (decent finish I should point out) and the 4th was the same as the 3rd for me, poor positioning. He’s also slow to get down at times with his boney frame!

All the above could be helped with a decent defence in fairness and, Kirkland does have the odd game where he helps us win, draw or lose by a smaller margain.

P.S. He can’t kick a ball, why has nobody worked on this with him? He finds touch more times than not and, when aiming for Scharner he seems to find the likes of N’Zogbia who has no chance against a big strong back 4 like Bolton’s.

Havign watched Kirkland at latics for the last 4 seasons he seems to be someone who needs to be well coached in order to enable him to improve the aspects of his game that he isn’t naturally strong on

I remember in Jewell’s later days & under Hutchings brief reign there were many on Latics message boards saying he wasn’t much kop & needed to be dropped in favour of Pollitt. I didn’t particularly agree with it but could see where they were coming from.
When Bruce arrived & brought in Nigel Spink, the improvement in his game was immediate & marked & that level of performance was (IMO) maintained. There were many (including me) who voted for him in the player of the season awards last season.
This season his form seems to have dipped a bit although (IMO) nowhere near to the extent that some are coming out with on here & his lack of communication & fear of coming for crosses seems to have returned
Can it be coincidental that this has coincided with a change of manager & goal keeping coach???

Personally i think kirkland is poor, he makes the odd decent save which any keeper in the prem could make, doesnt do anything spectacular usually kicks half decent (we’l ignore saturdays 1st half) crosses / corners hes usually Okay at best doesnt come for anything. The 1 thing which concerns me the most are one on ones he never seems to save us like some other keepers may. Have a look at the other keepers in the league. Seriously where would you put him?

Personally i think hes about 5th from bottom. Some one said hes in the top half….. ye alreet!

As a keeper you’re not really expected to save them, not if you’re an honest keeper anyway and maybe you have a point there, he should probably be a bit more dishonest on penalties and come off his line, most get away with it.

I remember Kirky saving a pen against Blackburn I think it was the 5-3 win and Benni Macarhy took the spot kick

FS LeftPeg ya mong. no offense but Gomez is WAY further up the list than that. Looks like he has the making of a great Keeper. Unfortunately he makes daft mistakes. May make more mistakes than Kirky but saves the team a LOT more.

Ok so he flapped at the cross and should never have tried to go throug/over so many players and all the newspapers slagged him off for it and being out of position for the shot coming in.

aside from that, he had a good game last night.
