Ok so he flapped at the cross and should never have tried to go throug/over so many players and all the newspapers slagged him off for it and being out of position for the shot coming in.
aside from that, he had a good game last night.
That just happened to be the mistake that cost us 2, possibly 3 points !! So therefore his other endeavors for the evening pale into insignificance !

There’s also the balloon (not sure who it was) who mis-kicked Kirkland’s flap (ooh-er) straight to Milner at the edge of the box. Not just Kirkland’s fault, but admittedly, not his finest hour.
It was poor goalkeeping by Kirkland last night for their winner, but at least having come for the cross he did get something on it, unlike his blunders at Stoke and Liverpool. That said, either him or somebody should have got something on Milner’s shot to possibly take it wide of the post.

Why did it cost us 2 points? how can you get 2 points in a game? It gained them 2 points that is about it.

He shouldn’t come for a cross if he cant get to it,if he does come and miss it anything else that happens will be his fault. ie Tuesday night and Liverpool + Stoke away.
He is a very good shot stopper but his all round basic goalkeeping is not of a high level.
His kicking is awful his distribution is to slow.
He is not very mobile and although he has tried hard for us over the years he is getting slowly worse.
There was one point in the second half on Tue that it was like watching someone in slow-motion when he started to run for a ball.
All in all thank you Chris but we need a new keeper soon.
Just not remotely amusing and very, very tiresome.[/quote]
I would have to agree with the not thick part, but I am not trying to be amusing or anything and ACTUALLY need this explained. I just don’t see how we dropped 2 points?
Maybe if we were winning and Kirkland f**ked up then he cost us 2 points, but in the scenario, we were drawing… So surely we dropped 1 point and 1 point only? I just don’t see how you can say he cost us 2 points. (sorry if there is a simple explanation but I cannot see how what I am saying is untrue)

OK Jimbo, replace ‘dropped’ with ‘cost the opportunity to gain’ 2 points and it works. Everyone on the board – and I suspect you too – knew exactly what he meant
