Can imagine the Bradford fans coming on here laughing at the pathetic dummy spitting of our so called fans.

You are a disgrace to everything Wigan Athletic and you won’t be missed.

Glad you weren’t in the trenches fighting for our country in two world wars. :woohoo:

Tis football my friend, glorious footy, with ups and downs, you have to learn to take the rough with the smooth. B)

Can you imagine all the 6000 travelling united fans throwing in the towel, cos Fergie played a back line of kids and novices against Chelsea at SB and lost? it must have cost um a mint for that night of footy.

Shut the door on yer way out sunshine

Nobody was more cheesed off than me. I hated it and was left so dissappointed.
Everything from the performance to effort did my head in.
Thing is, we were odds on favourites. The reason Bradford sold out was because of their delight at playing one of the countries top teams.
I can’t defend the night or the performance but the good times far out weigh the bad.
Only with dedicated support will we improve. Supporters start walking on the back of a bad day and we will not improve.
It’s a game any way, to be enjoyed no matter what.
I reckon the fans possibly including yourself enjoyed games last season when we were in dire straits.

I am not going to pour scorn on you for the post, as I believe you are genuine and being honest, saying how you feel.

To an extent, I AGREE with you. I mean about lack of ambition. But for me, its not really the manager, chairman, or club I see as lacking ambition. I think it’s a lot of our FANS who lack ambition. When you get people saying they are quite happy to watch us fighting for survival each year, (Read it on here the other day) to be honest, that gets on my nerves.

That is a tremendous lack of ambition. So basically they are saying they are happy to win only a few games a season are they, enduring a perrenial struggle to stay up? That’s a terrible attitude I think. I’m not expecting us to win loads of games and be hovering around fifth or sixth place, a la Everton or Spurs, for example, but dear god! A bit of ambition above 17th place would be a bloody good start!

BICKYMON, have a re-think, mate. Just do what I’m doing and don’t go to cup games unless it’s a semi or a final. Fact is, we have a Spaniard in charge and in his football make-up, as is the case in Spain, domestic cup games are not considered important. I think this is where his policy of fielding weak sides come from. I’m not going to pull him apart for it, as it’s his choice and his mentality.

I wouldn’t stop going to Latics over what happened the other night, Bickymon. Just put it down to experience and when theres a cup game on with a god-awful attendance, nobody can blame the people who stay away. Once bitten, twice shy, and all that….

Spot on? That is the biggest band waggoner comment I’ve ever heard. Play second string and I’m not coming, however if you do win and progress I will not bother if you play a second string team I’m having some of that glory. Think about what you are implying carefully.

In no way, can you possibly call me a bandwagoner, John.

So no, I think YOU need to think carefully before implying that I am a bandwagon supporter. I believe that in my time as a fan, including standing on a piss wet Springfield Park with around 800 others for a Leyland Daf cup game Versus Bury, circa 1991, I have EARNED the right to decide whether or not I attend cup games in future.

And yes, I WILL be picking and choosing whether I go or not. Because after the other night, it shows that our manager isn’t that bothered about cup games……so why on earth should us fans be?

You are not telling me that the 28,000 or so we took to Cardiff are all die-hard fans? I have come round to the way of thinking that yes, I WILL pick and choose cup games in future, because in no way do I want to witness a game like the other night, which was a disgrace. Friggin freezing and my little lad probably put off for life. All in all, a brilliant nights work. Not.

ADDENDUM: To be honest, I’m mostly p’d off because 2 seasons work of getting my little lad (aged 6) really interested in latics and to the point that he has just started really enjoying the game (he really enjoyed West Ham game at home, and was buzzing off Ramis’ thunderbolt) and taking notice of everything….and all that has been undone by one night of a shambles against a team 3 leagues lower than us. That’s what REALLY has p’d me off, and I believe the club now deserve all they get if folk don’t turn out for cup games in future.

(I actually stayed to the end, unlike many who walked out at full time-did they realise there was extra time? I stayed right until Gomez shat his shorts and bottled it, and in the process I was bordering on child cruelty, as my lad was tired, cold, getting upset, and wanted to go home. So in future, balls to cup matches.)
