So no, I think YOU need to think carefully before implying that I am a bandwagon supporter. I believe that in my time as a fan, including standing on a piss wet Springfield Park with around 800 others for a Leyland Daf cup game Versus Bury, circa 1991, I have EARNED the right to decide whether or not I attend cup games in future.
And yes, I WILL be picking and choosing whether I go or not. Because after the other night, it shows that our manager isn’t that bothered about cup games……so why on earth should us fans be?
You are not telling me that the 28,000 or so we took to Cardiff are all die-hard fans? I have come round to the way of thinking that yes, I WILL pick and choose cup games in future, because in no way do I want to witness a game like the other night, which was a disgrace. Friggin freezing and my little lad probably put off for life. All in all, a brilliant nights work. Not.
ADDENDUM: To be honest, I’m mostly p’d off because 2 seasons work of getting my little lad (aged 6) really interested in latics and to the point that he has just started really enjoying the game (he really enjoyed West Ham game at home, and was buzzing off Ramis’ thunderbolt) and taking notice of everything….and all that has been undone by one night of a shambles against a team 3 leagues lower than us. That’s what REALLY has p’d me off, and I believe the club now deserve all they get if folk don’t turn out for cup games in future.

What a journey!I think it’s a lot of our FANS who lack ambition. When you get people saying they are quite happy to watch us fighting for survival each year, (Read it on here the other day) to be honest, that gets on my nerves.That is a tremendous lack of ambition. So basically they are saying they are happy to win only a few games a season are they, enduring a perrenial struggle to stay up? That’s a terrible attitude I think. I’m not expecting us to win loads of games and be hovering around fifth or sixth place, a la Everton or Spurs, for example, but dear god! A bit of ambition above 17th place would be a bloody good start!
There is a difference between being content with what you have got which is the best position this club has ever been in in all its history and lacking ambition.
Its called being realistic something you obviously struggle with.
You are basically saying if everything does not go your way you have the right to spit your dummy out because you have been there and earned your badges.
Every latics mon can do what he wants as far as im concerned new or old but dont come on here boasting you are some sort of super tic and that I lack ambition because I dont throw my toys out the pram and wont throw aside everything I am happy with the current set up because of one crappy cup game.
Funny how so called darksiders come on whining and when they get challenged with facts start moaning they cant have an opinion.

I think I AM being realistic, when I say that season after season of battling against relegation is absolutely tedious.
No, I’m not content with us battling relegation season after season. Any so-called fan who claims to be is a bit of a nob, in my opinion. So that’s it is it? We won’t move on anymore…..because theres no real need is there…..
And where would we be today if Latics men hadn’t had such ambition in 1978 when we got in the league….and later in 1995, when Whelan took over?
