Totally agree, I wonder how these people can call themselves SUPPORTERS…. surely there is a clue in the term.
Supporters don’t turn up at games and abuse the very staff that they proclaim to support.
Wasn’t Wenger, Fergusen (and even Bobby at Swansea) getting greif from their respective supporters because of bad/indifferent starts to their carrers at Manchester and arsenal, bith of these are veterans now.
I am lucky (or not dependant on how you look at it) that I went through the really bad times at Latics, so this is nothing compared to those days, there are a lot of people out there that need a very big reality check….
I just wonder what these same people will be like when/if we stay up… and more to the point whether they will be there next season whatever the division….
I do call myself a proper supporter Jay, I’ve watched us thru all 4 divisions, and can still remember how numb I felt when Philpotts took us down in our only relegation. Ten times worse than the Gillingham defeat at Wembley. How we thought we would bounce back, how the crowds dropped, then the Swain era.
Don’t kid yourself that people who don’t have any confidence in Martinez are JCL’s who will crawl back into the woodwork if we go down. I didn’t last time and I won’t if we go down again. It’s the rough with the smooth, but if we can prolong the smooth, lets do it. A lot of people draw comparisons between Jewell and Martinez, but if memory serves me right, didn’t Colin Lee get brought in to help Jewell during his rough patch? If you can’t, or don’t recall what it was like to support Wigan Athletic, before 1996…..then I am sorry, but you don’t know what it is like to support a football club.
Anybody who only remembers the last 10, or 15 years, really has been spoiled.
That’s not me being a “superfan”. That is just me saying how it is. It’s nobody’s fault, of course. But for someone of 20 years of age now, or something, Jesus, you don’t know you’re born.

Would second what Griff says wholeheartedly. There are some decent posters on here (even a couple of the ‘dark side’), and we need more posters like you Owd.
The bigoted sage is absent by his own absence ! Its ok to spout stuff above the average intellect when it is quite apparent that many will not quite get where one is coming from but there are also the ones who do know exactly what one is getting at, and we know full well that your educated posts are self opinionated as any others. Owd,come on, if we go down you wont be bothered ? Does that not counter what we have strived for ? We are punching above our weight ? Is that not what the likes of Fulham do season in season out ? I sometimes feel that certain posters on here want to return to the so called dark days as if it was the norm ! We have hauled ourselves against all the odds to the pinnacle of British football and we are 5 yrs in to that now. Should we not be establishing ourselves in the top flight instead of rolling over and saying ” Oh well we shouldn’t really be here ! “
Oh and one more thing …. In the context of things. Mr sage, pro rata the amount of supportive posts you have had to actual reads really does pale you into insignificance !

Yes, I fully support that view and can understand OwdGit’s fustration at some of the posts on this site. Like the last one from Fil, grasping at every little straw to reinforce his views. Does he not realise that every time someone looks at a thread it constitues a read. He’s probably read it more than most but should, like all of us, only count as one anti, like I only count as one for.
