I sat chekin sky throughout the day yesterday,the wife thinks ive got OCD cos I check teletext every night before I go to bed.
The fact is that we are now in the premiership,I for one when I stood in the cowshed,then got me season ticket in the Phoenix stand,never,EVER,considered we would be here.
When Whelan took over he said we would be in the Prem in 10 years,he delivered to the day, almost.
I do hanker sometimes for the old days,but they are gone,we can no longer chat to the players when they warm up,players are aloof.
They no longer play for the shirt/club,they now have agents who actively encourage players to move,so they all get a bung,even legally sometimes.
The fact from my point of view is that football has changed.
If we get relegated,it wont change,cos the good old days have gone my friends,even the championship players now drive Bentleys .
You either accept it for what it is,or go and watch Burscough or whatever
I’m stayin loyal and living the dream,I hope you join me.
Bobby loves this club,and will do his best,if we go down,its part of what makes football what it is,I will still buy me ticket,and still check me teletext every night.
I love my club,and thank Dave Whelan for investing in it.
Whatever happens this season,I will support the boys,and as long as I have a hole in my harris,I will buy my seaon ticket and enjoy the ride.

We should support Wigan Athletic not the Premiership.
Times are hard all over the world, even rich men are having to tuck their belts in.
I have moaned lately and have felt we needed to strengthen to survive in this league, but to hear some folk you’d think we were already relegated and we’ve only played 4 league games!
Its time to forget the transfer window, and move on with what we have. Enjoy watching Roberto trying to get this team playing good football and eventually picking up points, we all agreed it was going to be a slow start.
On Saturday I was in Southport and me and the lad went watching Southport V Harrogate, Southport won 3-1 in a really good honest game of football….no diving, every player there just glad to be playing football. Not a primma donna in sight.
The point I am trying to make is if, as some people believe Whelan has taken the club as far as he can, then fair do’s maybe the plan is to prepare us for life in the Coca Cola league, as long as the move down is planned for we will be stable when we go down instead of struggling to rebuild yet again.
Who knows maybe we could all enjoy another season like our promotion season to the Premiership now that was a cracking ride! From Whelans point of view there is plenty money to be made in yoyoing between the Premiership and the Championship.
Who knows whats going to happen, in the mean time lets get behind The Latics when they are on the field.

I am really getting sick and tired of coming on here seeing people moan and groan. No-one should have to tell people how to support their club but the season is four games old and it’s all doom and gloom.
I’m not coming on here in future because I’ve had enough, it’s bad enough listening to all the whingeing at the game.
This used to be a place to come for information and good chat about football. A place where you could wind opposition fans up. Now the whining (like an annoying car alarm going off) has got too much.
As I’ve said in the past some people better take a look at themselves when things start to improve and remember their idiotic comments.
Whelan has done everything we have asked of him without placing the club in danger. If some of the people on here had their way we’d go bust and lose points. We are in the Prem with the manager we begged him to appoint. Just because we didn’t rush into a signing in the transfer window he is suddenly a disaster for the club. Think back my friends.
As for ripping up your season tickets, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO IT!

Good post that man, It’s not all doom and gloom, Remember how many points we had when The Prodigal Elephant took over and where we were and what time of year it was. When this current run of tough games is over you won’t even post on here you lot. Loss of face you see to the anti-boys. Or even if we beat West Ham you will still drop you’re spuds. Im raring to go from it. We may not need anyone else, who knows. At least this way the players don’t have to get used to anyone else new to training and trying to figure him out and understand his language. Martinez will come good, The messiah cant make miracles that quick thats just insanity expecting, Well whatever it is your expecting.
Oh and on the thing about bentley’s, agents, money and Burscough, My mam lives in a vilage in Burscough and Shaun Teale runs the village pub. The shift of money since the nineties has been astonishing. Check wikipedia for the old players like Mickey Stockwell e.t.c and see what they do now. It was more of a part-time job then thats why they gave it everything, Pure passion for the shirts.

Best thread I’ve read on here in ages.
It’s time those of us who want to SUPPORT our team started to make ourselves heard over the noise of negativity and whining coming from just a minority of people.
I say noise because, if you look, some of these moaners have already racked up hundreds of posts in just a few weeks since the new board got up and running.
It would seem that the positive majority tend to keep their counsel more, take a more considered and thoughtful approach and don’t rack up 20 or 30 posts a day!
Most of those on this thread have just a handful of posts to their names (Horc is the exception and certainly not included in the list of moaners).
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but some of us are guilty of sitting on the sidelines (I know I am) and letting the negative posters dominate. Maybe it’s time we made ourselves heard more and then hopefully this will become a better, more balanced, forum for all of us?

You’re spot on, it is scary just how far we have come over the past few years and how the rest of the league (as a whole) has developed.
Yeah there are things I miss from old day, being able to get a pie and still see the game if you ducked down, and others I don’t… i.e. pi ssin in a piece of guttering set in concrete.. but that was in the past, and irrespective of what anyone else says at this moment in time I still get a buzz then I see the DW from afar, and never thought I’d be able to watch MY team playing in the highest league and one of the most respected in the world… So for all of his faults, thanks Mr Whelan.
