6 May 2018 at 1:44 pm #168893Safety of kids? Lad next to me had four kids there. Two 5 year olds, a ten year old and an eleven year old. All went on pitch, had a sing and dance, shook players hands, had there pictures taken with Whelan and I couldn’t see this imminent danger of being crushed.
Everytime a club wins a trophy there’s a pitch invasion. Why are you so disgusted? You leave disappointed everytime you go away that these ‘nobheads’ ruin your kids day. You vowed at Fylde never to go again away due to your kids safety. Definition of insanity: Doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Next time. Save your sanity. Stay at home. You’ll only be disappointed!
Went yesterday because of what was at stake. Why should my kids miss out? Top many pissheads, that’s half the problem.
6 May 2018 at 1:52 pm #168894Folk on the front row should be forced to sit down, if needs be by stewards armed with water guns that soak them every time they stand up without a need to. Every time the selfish feckers stand up, they cause a ripple effect that spoils the view of those sat behind. Youngsters and the infirm cant stand and see all day. I pay my £25+ to see a game of football, not some fat bloke’s or spotty yoof’s arse.I’ve had it out with these selfish types before who were persistently standing on the front row at Craven Cottage when my wife & I were in row 2 – told them to either sit down or if they want to block our view of the game then fucking entertain us to the value of our ticket. I must have looked angry enough, because they sat down!
We were sat on front row, quite happy with our view. About 5 mins before kick off, people started appearing and standing in front of us. I told 3 or 4 to move, but it got ridiculous. To the left hand corner, a group of pissheads congregated and were stood up. We couldn’t see nothing, so I told my boys to stand at the boards. But people were coming from elsewhere in the stand to stand at the front. That was the problem. I decided I had to stand behind the kids to protect them from getting knocked or crushed. Good job I did as well. When we scored both my dad, and myself, had loads of people bang into our backs as we shielded them.
The problems: too many pissheads, too many ignorant people.
I still don’t understand why so called grown blokes can stand dancing about, with their backs to the game. Attention seeking freaks
6 May 2018 at 1:57 pm #168896Cos it’s different in premier league? Like United fans don’t stand up? Like City fans didn’t go on pitch last week against Swansea when they won league? Might not be ideal but it’s the game!

Might not be ideal but it’s the game!Roy, it’s up to clubs to sort out. No need for anybody not to sit in their ticketed designated seat. Especially yesterday. The keepmoat is a decent stadium. No bad views really. It was just ignorance, completely.
6 May 2018 at 2:11 pm #168900I’m not suggesting it’s correct. Guess I’ve just accepted it’s part and parcel of following a club away.

6 May 2018 at 3:28 pm #168903There where a handful of idiots who were dealt with, but most was just high spirits. Plenty of the kids on the pitch at the end where given shirts, boots etc. by the players.
These pitch invasions do now seem to be the norm. I saw ‘em at all the fixtures with something at stake yesterday. And unlike the old days when clubs packed the end with stewards/police, there seems to be no extra provisions now.
6 May 2018 at 3:30 pm #168904Pitch invasions have always been part & parcel of the game in all my years attending games. Only the other day a photo of a pitch invasion at springfield park was posted on one of the wigan athletic facebook pages.
One method i have always thought could work is if all clubs had “an organised pitch invasion,” or another term for it when H&S become involved. Stewards could open up certain parts (if not all) of the ground to allow fans onto the pitch at the end of an emotional deciding, high stake game. Fans however, would have to comply with rules & regulations by coming onto the pitch in an orderly fashion.
This way they are not barging past people putting other folks lives at risk. You will never ever stop pitch invasions. But if they were done in a safety aspect, it could actually work. Fans still get to go on the pitch to worship their heroes etc, but its all done safely. I know there is a lot of mentions towards H&S in my post, but that is the day & age we are living in.
Vat, i do know where you are coming from with regards your kids safety. Even when coming off the DW at the end of a game, i still do my upmost best to protect my son (who is nearly 13) when we get surrounded by a few hundred when trying to get down the steps to return to the concourse. He hates it. But i tell him “you’ll be a dad one day.”
6 May 2018 at 4:15 pm #168905All seemed to go off without any issues. All good fun.
Max Power might be in trouble though.
6 May 2018 at 4:20 pm #168906Never mind guys next season it will be back to a couple of hundred at away games and yes they will probably be standing, we had to stand at the front as we couldn’t get to our seats but we did our best not to block people’s view I said to a few behind us if I’m in your way knock me head but every one was fine .
6 May 2018 at 4:51 pm #168907Perhaps clubs could provide guaranteed seating in their away ends specifically for parents with young kids and the older fans? Away contingents invariably stand, that’s the way it is!
6 May 2018 at 6:32 pm #168911I wonder if there’s been a pitch invasion at the Macron today?
6 May 2018 at 6:36 pm #168912Perhaps clubs could provide guaranteed seating in their away ends specifically for parents with young kids and the older fans? Away contingents invariably stand, that’s the way it is!Any away end these days tends to be guaranteed seating! It’s just people are awkward and choose to stand, usually not where they are supposed to be sitting. Police and stewards are not tough enough and people get away with being dick heads.
Glad we won and all that yesterday but the rest of it was a shite experience. I said we wouldn’t go away again. But if we do, I’m not sitting anywhere near the front. No good with little ones.
6 May 2018 at 6:37 pm #168913I wonder if there’s been a pitch invasion at the Macron today?Absolutely marrer Birmingham fans on the pitch in the first half after their 2nd goal. Cardiff game held up near end flare on the pitch. Will be interesting to see how many fines are handed out as in our case.
6 May 2018 at 7:47 pm #168916Yep, sure was.
