Firstly she’d get a game.
Just watching question time (it’s an age thing) and she is looking mighty uncomfortable with all the Corbyn jibes.. but not jumping to his defence.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
4 November 2016 at 4:56 pm #152127Lisa Nandy was on Question Time again last night which I unfortunately missed.
I was hoping to hear her comments on yesterdays high court ruling. Maybe someone could confirm if the following subject was raised:-
If she was given a vote on triggering Article 50, how would she vote? Would her vote represent the huge majority of her constituents or her own personal view (Remain)?
I’ve nothing against Parliament having the final vote. Neither do I disagree with the high court ruling. Legally speaking it is probably correct (I’m no lawyer).
What does boil the piss is the motive behind the legal challenge. Remain supporting lawyers/politicians throwing spanners in the works to delay us leaving the EU because it wasn’t the result they wanted.
4 November 2016 at 8:52 pm #152135She dodged the question herself but still had a crack at Sajid Javid about how his party won’t or can’t give an insight into what Brexit will be.
She also had a go at him over the ‘mining scandal’, but flapped a bit when asked why he party didn’t investigate.
There was something about the Security of the UK as well, particularly our threat (might have been Russia, didn’t catch it) and I love how she went down the line of ‘if we were in power we would be bolstering the armed forces etc…’ even though we know the opposite would happen should Corbyn be Prime Minister… dumping our armed forces and deterrents
She went on a pro-Clinton mission, but it was quite obvious is what because she was a woman rather than her ability and reputation….. hell, she might be jailed within 3 months of her term… Clinton not Nandy.

4 November 2016 at 11:05 pm #152147If she was given a vote on triggering Article 50, how would she vote? Would her vote represent the huge majority of her constituents or her own personal view (Remain)? If each member of parliament got a vote, and voted the way their constituents voted there would be a landslide victory for Brexit and that is the way it should be.
Unfortunately they will use the vote if they get one to vote how they personally feel, which is disturbingly wrong.
Why have a referendum in the first place if it comes down to the individual MP’s.
I shouldn’t come down to a vote, but a long debate will take place and when all the wankers have put their penny worth in, it will be watered down and pointless leaving because they will put that many clauses in it will no different to staying in.
Democracy is fucked in this country if a few judges who have a personal interest in EU matters can get involved and overule the majority of the people in the country.
Do you think anything would have been done if the vote had gone the other way? I don’t!!5 November 2016 at 4:48 am #152154You could not be more wrong. The whole point of our democracy is that we have a separation of powers between the crown, parliament and the judiciary. In this case, the judges have done their job and said that the government’s position is not lawful. And they have said that the British parliament should have its say, which is precisely what people voted for, isn’t it ? To get their sovereign parliament back. What are you going to do? Go to the European court?
Finally, although there was a majority to remain in the EU in parliament, nobody – Lisa Nandy included – thinks that is how parliament will vote now that the people have had their say. Most MPs will now go along with the will of the people, however wrong-headed that is. And if you doubt that, you’ll notice that the pins immediately rallied when this court ruling came out.
5 November 2016 at 6:31 pm #152155We should be pushing the will of the people through much quicker. We do not need any more delay tactics.
Get out and out quickly our democracy depends on it.
Parliament gave Mr Cameron the mandate to go to the people. The people decided. Now get on with it.6 November 2016 at 1:54 am #152172We should be pushing the will of the people through much quicker. We do not need any more delay tactics.

Now get on with it.Correct Donny Dongler, the government and prime minister are elected and trusted to manage the best interests of the nation; so let them get on with it. Otherwise it’s almost rule by committee and we’ll be fookin about forever. Some folk have no spunk, and would just prefer that Europe walk all over us; unlike previous generations who died for our freedom of rights and speech.
6 November 2016 at 2:33 am #152180No doubt the will of the people will prevail, especially those one and a quarter million who took it upon themselves to vote for the one and only time in their lives to unleash a racist and xenophobic influence on an issue they were totally clueless about; the same people who will be first to bleat when they discover we must still pay a significant sum into a system we want and need to be part of and that nasty free-loading foreigners are still being allowed into the country.

Take the vote away from Working class people in the North of England.
Racist and xenophobic is a bit strong. Come on if we go down those lines we probably have sixty million people in the country who could not put their hands up if they have never uttered one word that is either racist or xenophobic.
Please have a little more respect for working people.8 November 2016 at 1:52 pm #152277No doubt the will of the people will prevail, especially those one and a quarter million who took it upon themselves to vote for the one and only time in their lives to unleash a racist and xenophobic influence on an issue they were totally clueless about; the same people who will be first to bleat when they discover we must still pay a significant sum into a system we want and need to be part of and that nasty free-loading foreigners are still being allowed into the country.

Ignorance of a complex issue together with lies and confusion meant that when it came to the vote people’s prejudices, intended or not, kicked in. Prejudices which weren’t exclusive to the working class either.
