No doubt the will of the people will prevail, especially those one and a quarter million who took it upon themselves to vote for the one and only time in their lives to unleash a racist and xenophobic influence on an issue they were totally clueless about; the same people who will be first to bleat when they discover we must still pay a significant sum into a system we want and need to be part of and that nasty free-loading foreigners are still being allowed into the country.
Bloody hell Sam, what do you want man? Take the vote away from Working class people in the North of England.
Racist and xenophobic is a bit strong. Come on if we go down those lines we probably have sixty million people in the country who could not put their hands up if they have never uttered one word that is either racist or xenophobic.
Please have a little more respect for working people.
Which is why the decision should never have been put to the country. Ignorance of a complex issue together with lies and confusion meant that when it came to the vote people’s prejudices, intended or not, kicked in. Prejudices which weren’t exclusive to the working class either.
I read a lot about the leave campaign being “based on lies”.
What lies are we talking about? Please don’t mention the bus. That had zero impact on my decision.

I previously posted an assessment by Professor Michael Dougan of Liverpool University on the decision to leave the EU where he describes the Leave campaign as “one of the most dishonest campaigns this country has ever seen”.
It can be viewed on You Tube if you wish to take a look. The bus may not have influenced your decision. The same cannot be said for everyone who voted leave.
I voted to Remain through clenched teeth. For all that is wrong with the EU it was in my opinion the lesser of the two evils.
8 November 2016 at 5:24 pm #152280Sam there were lies from all sides. There are always lies and embalishments and exaggerations when politicians are involved. As you know there were a lot of other complex issue involved. I abhor racism and any manipulation of immigration issues that can be contrived into racism. My own out vote came because the EU is just the final cap on the head of a big drain that leaches public money. Parish, Borough, County, National and then the Euro all with their own expensive burecrats leaching money. Immigrants are needed. We need workers in the UK. There are jobs to fill and they fill them. A shame some of our own British people who complain about jobs being taken don’t do them.

But the Government dangled the referendum carrot to ensure they picked up votes which helped them be elected so it had to go the country . Whatever your view Sammy the government made a right royal balls up and Cameron rightly fell on his sword. Had there been a vote in John Majors stint as PM I reckon he would have put the pros and cons over in such a manner the result would have been different. Cameron let the side down and joined in the shenanigans which attributed to us leaving. Rightly so for me but I understand many wanted to remain and would have probably got the result but for Cameron and co.

Leaving is an evil? :/
I’m still waiting for these so called lies that conned me into voting leave.
8 November 2016 at 10:48 pm #152285I don’t feel conned one bit, but I am starting to think our democracy is now a con with all the bleaters still trying to overturn a fair and square result.
Latics lost a two horse race 0-3 on Saturday, if it had been 2-3 we would still have lost, we may have been cheated, missed a penalty, hit the bar, had a player sent off, the ref may even have played no injury time and cheated all day, but no end of whingeing, moaning and complaining would have changed the result.
We lost and have to get over it, so all the mardy arse remainers should shut the fuck up and get over it and move on, or move to Scotland.8 November 2016 at 11:51 pm #152286sammy,please shut up.the British public voted to leave the EU,we are leaving, its called democracy, please dont patronise people that voted to leave.
Remain campaign lied through their teeth…….where’s the emergency budget? Cameron and Osborne took the British public for granted and got their arses quite rightly kicked.

Plus in the US election it is a choice of one billionaire against another billionaire. So not a lot of choice. Not a bad result for the building trade if that wall goes ahead.
