Dave, I think it’s the ‘I’m not going again’ comment that George finds most irritating. Yes you might have been a Latics fan since the 80s, but ever since I’ve known you via forums etc, it seems we’ve had at least one ‘I’m not going again’ threat per season!

Yes it’s been crap this season. Nobody disputes that. I’ve also paid for my eldest lad and his mate to come to at least half a dozen home games this season and three away games and today is the first time they’ve seen us score!

They were buzzing. But they’ve also enjoyed being there for every game we’ve drawn or lost.

And that’s the point. Remember when you used to love going to games, and it was a bit shit when we lost, but you still wouldn’t have missed it for the world?

Well that’s what I see with my lad. I sit with my mates. He sits a few rows away with his. He reacts like I used to when I was his age and he’ll be hooked too – if he isn’t already.

I still enjoy meeting for a pre match pint, walking to the ground, and half time pint and dissection of the game. If you’ve forgotten all of that – that’s when it becomes too serious, and then the result of the match grows out of all proportion.

Try and think back to when it used to be fun; that’s my advice.

I’ve not been.on any forums since 2011…not until I came back on here, recently.
My comment never said “I’m not.going again”. Again, I’ve been misquoted here. I said I was going to miss the last 3 home games…for a couple of reasons that I’ve already said.

Do I enjoy going to games? I don’t think I do. I didn’t enjoy last season, I thought we were crap until Christmas and ended up.winning a very poor quality league one. When did I last enjoy a season? I think it was the last season we had mcmanaman and McArthur here….though he left early on that season. I never wanted Caldwell as manager….I never wanted Joyce as manager.
What do my lads.make of it all? The youngest isn’t really bothered, the oldest thinks we are crap. He’s right. The whole match going experience is just…empty. he said to me today “this stadium is too big” he is right. I’m surprised they still want to come to games, being honest. They aren’t learning much from what they are seeing though.

I’m should have kept quiet about missing these last few games. It’s for the best.

Vat! We won. We have a squad that under the right coaching staff that could piss league one next season so let’s see what unwinds.
We are all frustrated with everything you say but we will be there like 1800 or so of us less the deceased were not too long ago.
It isn’t surprising we are shit though. It’s a different team every week that turns out and communication at times explaining why players are not there needs to be improved. Playing players out of position or out of form seriously needs addressing too. Why Sam Morsy comes back looks good as an attacking midfielder then is played as a deep midfielder and isn’t as effective is just madness. The relegation has been an orchestrated example of mis-managed chaos yes but it won’t stop us going. Have a drink Vat Mon and chill and just look forward to the friendlies in July.
I can’t wait for the new season and this shite one hasn’t even finished yet.

That squad will struggle in league one. That’s my opinion. I’m being serious. Who will.leave? Burn? Morsy? Can see both getting sold. Can see us having a new team.with 5 or 6 new players in. We will.be coming up.againt teams who have been together 2 or 3 seasons…settled sides. Honestly, it’s going to be tough.

Vat69, i do get your frustration, your concerns, your anger etc. But please dont walk away from the club when it needs us. Nobody has been happy this season. But we still come because we love the club.

As donny said, have a drink & chill. Even though we have won today, i have now forgot about the game. This doesn’t mean i don’t care about my club because i do. Its just that i don’t get worked up over it.

        Dave
        Really, lad.
Go and support someone else. You keep threatening to go “back” to supporting Everton, or whoever. If you miss the last few games, we don’t care.
Do it please. Go and support a “better” team. I’ve supported you a number of times in the past, but you really are pushing buttons now.
You are constantly negative, constantly carping, constantly complaining about this that or the other.
Yes, we have had a bad, nay abysmal, season. But that’s par vfor the course with Latics. It’s what you sign up to. We have had good times too. These things are cyclical. The true supporters (and don’t tell me how you were at Hartlepool in 1902), stick by the club. We may not be happy. But we will still be there, not only for the next few games, but also next season.
Don’t tell us what a great fan you are, but “you’re not going the next few games”.
Either stick with us, and get behind whoever and whatever, or just go elsewhere.

Don’t misquote me George. I’ve never said that. I’ve never ever supported Everton. I’ve had a season ticket at Latics since 1986…you know that. You once bought a signed 1987 team photo off me!

Read my comment on the other thread….maybe you’ll see where I’m coming from. My anger is that we could….and should be so much better. There’s been a slight improvement since Joyce went and Barrow came in, I’ll admit that. But what does this say about Joyce? What WAS he playing at? We’re they playing hop scotch in training sessions? And ultimately, he was given too much time by the powers that be. Had we acted 2 or 3 weeks sooner, we may have had a chance. That’s what grates me.

I am going to miss these last 3 games, simply because I don’t want to lose my rag again, like I did today and had to leave, and I don’t want to fall out with folk who.sit near me, as was starting today. I think that’s being sensible George, don’t you? It’s not wanting to miss the games, but maybe it’s for the best in this particular instance.

Maybe I just want better for the club. To defend tight, if an opponent is to score, make them blooming work for it! I can take losing, I can take losing goals. But not the way we have done this season. Elements of that game today were Sunday league esque. Going forward, maybe Bogle and Grigg will be on fire next season, I don’t know. Who knows?

But before you attack me for being honest and speaking my mind, just consider that maybe I am so upset…because I care. That’s all. We can be so much better, and that’s what hurts most.[/quote]

I think missing games because you’re losing your rag with people around you is eminently sensible, especially for you. You should have done it years ago. You take Latics and it’s fans far more seriously than they do you.

Dave, my lad (10) doesn’t give a toss how big the stadium is.

He gets a coke and burger with his mate and chat whatever kids that age chat.

He jumps up when we have a shot, and shakes he head when we concede a goal.

He was thoroughly pissed off when we got battered at Old Trafford.

But it’s always his decision to come to games.

30 years ago – when you were a similar age to him, would you have been considering throwing your season ticket because we weren’t competing too well in England 2nd top league?

Vat, as someone has already mentioned the squad will be fine if managed and coached properly hang in there marrer I intend to make most games next season which I haven’t been able to recently because I’ve missed the whole package. Its Latics its never straight forward or boring but its what the club is about. We will now see what Sharpey is made of and ir will be an interesting close season. YAMS

I’ve no intention of walking away! All.im.saying is, I got a bit too angry and heated today…so much so, stewards had a word with me. Not good that, is it? I’m hoping to enjoy next season, if the club shapes itself, but maybe it’s best I miss these next 3 home games as a kind of ‘self imposed ban’? Got into words with some blokes behind me today and it’s not good that, is it?

I’ve never said I’m walking away, just giving these games a miss. Roll on next season and a few interesting away games..such as Bristol Rovers.

          It’s all good!

When I hear whispers of Caldwell coming back, it makes me wince and cringe.

Let’s see what Sharpe does then

Finally I came off feeling entertained. We had a go and didn’t give up. The subs injected pace with Powell’s invention and like the look of Jack Byrne too with his energy and willingness to get on the ball. Bed these lads in for next season, keep Dan Burn and get Bogle flying pre season and we can smash Division One with a decent Manager.

                  That’s funny.

Until 2 weeks ago, I hadn’t been on here for 6 years. I come back on, and not a sniff of you. Soon as you saw me post, you have to comment. Deary me…..

Normally, I go a match then go home and forget about it. When was the last time I. Felt entertained by a Latics team? Not sure. Recent seasons have been poor.

Today, I saw the bottom.team who are clearly the worst in our league, almost walk the ball into our net. That, for me, was too much. I don’t give a monkeys what level you are at, that first goal was a . disgrace.

I don’t like to big up the fact that I was part of a 7 man special forces team that infiltrated the airstrip at Port Stanley and destroyed 6 Argentinian Pucara fighter jets, and killed 17 Argentinians in the process.

It is but a distant memory from my days with the regiment. But I still get flashbacks from killing an Argie by shoving a flashbang down his pants. He was bopping about like Michael Jackson, until Spud Mcfadden tapped the poor bugger.

                      I’ve said enough.

couldn’t go today as always have a Aintree trip on National day. Having read all the reports etc it was not the same sort of 3-2 home win like v Arsenal not that many years ago. Club are in a mess, we all know it. We will be in Div 1 next season but my tribe will be getting one more season ticket for next year as Grandson will be coming. His mum was 12 when we first went to the brand new JJB and whatever the future brings we will still be there.

Dave, all joking apart, get yourself some help.
