Hope not,the rumour is fat Sam wants him at the hammers. For 5 mil, would you take that,if you was in charge at latics?.Think he could be a big part in getting us out of the championship this season.
22 July 2013 at 9:33 pm #118129Coyle might just tell him what a mess Sam left noblot in,
22 July 2013 at 9:40 pm #118130What, and that would bother Maloney, or anyone else for that matter?
29 years old, a 2 or 3-year deal on the table from any Premier League club and Maloney, or anyone else for that matter, would be off like a shot. And I wouldn;t blame them.
As always, it will be up to the club to get the best price they can for him, wherever he wants to go.
McCarthy will be the same before the end of August, I would think. if someone comes in for these two – and I think they will – then I don’t expect either of them to still be here come the 3rd September.
22 July 2013 at 10:17 pm #118131Didn’t Maloney not sign a four year contract last January?
If Coyle wants to keep him he can. We are holding the upper hand on this, its not like he’s in the last year of the contract like McCarthy is.
I still believe we will lose no more players, basically cos we don’t have to. B)

What a journey!22 July 2013 at 10:29 pm #118132What exactly do contracts mean these days?.
If a player wants to leave,as Whelan has stated many a time,he will not stand in his way.As long as we get the best deal for the club.I think the only thing that could stop Maloney going to West ham, is London.A long ,long way from home.Did he not get homesick at Villa?23 July 2013 at 1:35 am #118142You’re right, contracts mean nowt really. If the lad wants to go, Whelan will let him go. No club holds on to a player that doesn’t want to stay these days. The longer contract just means they should be able to get a better price for him.
23 July 2013 at 1:59 am #118143Try telling saurez that
23 July 2013 at 2:05 am #118144He’ll go to, if he wants to. And Liverpool will be happy to get shut. They, too, are just playing games, holding out for the best price.
23 July 2013 at 2:16 am #118145Think mcarthy and maloney may stay till Jan and then look at our league position
23 July 2013 at 3:00 am #118149Think mcarthy and maloney may stay till Jan and then look at our league positionThat’s exactly what I think will happen. If you read between the lines as to what’s happened at villa with Benteke, he hears that every tom dick and harry are after him. He thinks the club will just let him go, even though he has signed a 3 year deal less than 12 months ago. Lambert whispers in his ear, you can either withdraw your transfer request and sign a contract extension, or you rot in the reserves for two years and everyone will have forgotten about you.
McCarthy’s big chance of a move will come in January. If he decides he doesn’t want to sign a new deal which will probably double the wages he his currently on, then we have to cash in on him. Unless the big moves of Bainsey and Felini come off nobody else will afford Macca.
Even Spurs are reported to be trying a cash plus players deal. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!23 July 2013 at 9:44 am #118158If mccarthy is in the last year of his contract,I’d probably sell him now rather than wait ’til january (assuming he wants to go of course)and get a lot less money for him then, especially since we are well covered for his position.
i think it’s a bit different with maloney, his position will be much harder to cover as efficiently and, since he’s on a 3 year contract, we could hold on to him ’til january and still be in a good bargaining position with him.
Ideally though, i wouldn’t sell either of them if they were happy to stay.
23 July 2013 at 11:39 am #118161Ideally though, i wouldn’t sell either of them if they were happy to stay. Both of them will be happy to stay – unless a Premier League team offering Premier League money comes along. And they will. Six weeks of the window left yet, plenty time.
23 July 2013 at 3:39 pm #118174I still dont get why McCarthy is being touted as this so called great player when in my opinion he had an in and out season for us last season ! He certainly isn’t worth more than £8m ! If we can get mental money for him though then I have no reason to question his value ! Come on you mugs, come and snap him up !
23 July 2013 at 11:28 pm #118189Are people forgetting that Mccarthy is under contract till 2016? He signed a 5 year deal in 2011. This is why he has such a high transfer fee touted and why we only sell on our terms. Similarly Maloney must have known in January we could well have gone down so why did he sign a 3 year deal? Given he is appproaching 31 I see no reason why any fee he would command would compensate for his loss. Out the two I would keep Maloney for sure. Most games I hardly notice Mccarthy is on the pitch.
24 July 2013 at 12:31 am #118193Out the two I would keep Maloney for sure. Most games I hardly notice Mccarthy is on the pitch. With you there Roy – I often wonder what MccArthy adds and often don’t notice him, but I remember thinking that too about Diame and it was only once he’d gone that I missed him. Maybe that’s their secret – they just go about their business so well that we don’t realise how effective they are. “Stealth midfielders”.
That said, I’m still not sure he’s worth all the money the press are hyping up. In fact I think half the time the press get confused between ‘arthy, ‘arthur and ‘manaman.
