Perhaps if western governments stopped pursuing its policy of regime change by invading, destabilising and causing untold destruction in predominately Muslim countries to protect the interests of the rich and powerful then the rise of Islamic extremist groups might not have occurred.

Is that not chicken and the egg though Sammy? The countries invaded are those usually the ones that support and assist terrorism and in some cases fund it. Christ knows how we combat it but I cannot see negotiations working with the extremists.

Why aren’t we invading Saudi Arabia then?

Sammy you’ve just defeated your own augment with that one.

The Saudis have no reason to dislike us, we went to war to defend their country yet it seems that a lot of Islamic terrorism can be traced back to them.

and we shouldn’t be brainwashed into thinking all mass murders in the UK have been carried out by muslim terrorists. Hungerford, Dunblane and Whitehaven instantly spring to mind.

The difference is Mutley, Hungerford. Dunblane and Whitehaven were carried out by lone nutjobs. The nature of Islamic terrorism is that it’s about ideology and the sad fact is, is that it is estimated that between 15% and 25% of the worlds Muslims despise the west, so no need to panic.
And 75% of statistics are made up on the spot!!
I went on line to research the number, try it yourself Bongmon.

You’ve missed my point.
It isn’t a case of whether or not “we” are liked or disliked by these regimes it’s about whether they impinge on the interests of the people with the real power; those who really control things in the world, who own and control all the wealth.

There’s 2 problems I have with your initial statement:
1) 15-25% is a hell of a wide ranging figure when you consider that there are 1.6 billion muslims in the world. 15% is 240million. 25% is 400 million. That’s 160million difference. I don’t trust any stat with that wide a margin of error
2) That figure comes from a journalist called Brigette Gabriel. Brigette Gabriel is a right wing journalist long known for her anti Islamic views. A basic rule of research is to look at the motives behind studies or those who contribute towards them. I’d taken figures she & her organisations produce with a massive pinch of salt
3) The figure of 15-25% is widely disputed. And a different organisation in the US claims that intelligence services rank it at 1%. Still 1% too many but I wouldn’t claim this figure as a fact any more than you should claim the 15-25% one as fact. Coz it isn’t – it’s the opinion of one organisation with an agenda

If you can be bothered to watch all of this, (I won’t hold my breath) I can assure you it will open your eyes a little! Well worth a watch!

Interesting insight into the history on suicide bombing, overall felt like I was watching 2 stories with no real connection but a very good documentary. Cheers Fil
