The difference between Martinez and Mourinho is simply this –

Martinez – good lower league player, crap manager

Mourinho – bobbins player, world class manager

Well done Mr Peel Holdings, for reading what Griff was saying and fragementing it so it states the absolute obvious. Funnily enough, I’m sure everyone knows there is a difference between Martinez and Mourinho.

The whole point of that comment regarding Mourinho was to prove that you don’t have to be a top class footballer to make it as a manager. You can add Wenger to this list.

There’s a flip-side to that: Tony Adams, Paul Ince, Jan Molby, to name a few.

I’ll be honest & say I’ve seen absolutely nowt of Saturday’s game – live, highlights or anything

But what did make me laugh was the comment from Bobby of “We conceded 3 very cheap goals for our standards, and that is something we will work on ….. it is quite clear to me the things we need to work on … in football you cannot concede cheap goals. We just weren’t ourselves today”

I agree with Griff’s point that i don’t care what he says to SKY its what he says behind closed doors that’s important but even so, is Bobby for real with those comments???
All the goals conceded against Blackpool were cheap, 4 of em conceded against Chelsea were cheap. And even more recently both United goals were extremely cheap, both Blackburn goals conceded were cheap, the bolton goal was cheap, both Newcastle goals were … and by cheap I mean people being left unmarked to score tap ins or just plain rank defending

That’s what Latics do best, concede cheap goals so for Bobby to turn round & come out with comments like that is like someone slashing on your back & telling you its raining

So we have problems at the back and we have problems up front but which is worse….There’s only one way to find out ….F iiiiiiiight !!!

I’d imagine a fight in which both fighters were trained by Bobby would be one of those dull as dishwater heavyweight bouts where both boxers just go round the ring in circles aiming tame jabs at each other with both fighters too afraid to commit to some open swedging

Bet they’d both be wearing brown boots and black shorts.

Dare I say it but a recipe for relegation !! The Mud hutters will be rubbing their hands in anticipation of the drop !

Which Mudhutters in particular are you referring to? It might be helpful if you could give more than one example seeing as you have used the plural Mudhutters.

As editor of that publication and website, I do not recall anyone writing anything stating that they were looking forward to us getting relegated, the only instance I have seen of such comments have been made on here by Vat69?

I’m sure you wouldn’t have written such a thing for the sake of it though

I just dont think many of your members would be that bothered if we went down ! You have been known to say yourself on a few occasions that the Premier League is not the be all and end all with a few of your members agreeing with you. You call new fans for embracing the Premier league as if it goes against the whole grain of the clubs roots and many of you hanker after the days of dare I say it ” Goole Away ” If indeed the Premier League is as many say the greatest league in the World then why not embrace being a part of it and fight together as one to strengthen and build this once ” Little Club ” Dont take my comments personally because I am not that sort of person, I am merely opining which is what a forum is for is it not ! I just get the impression that quite a few of you revel in the fact that the people who jumped on the Premier League bandwagon are now no longer with us and also because we are struggling quite a few of the new batch of fans are now voting with their feet ! Its a sort of ” I told ya so ” scenario and “lets get back to the 2000 Wiganers who had Wigan in their blood” Well if we do stay up I think the crowds will level out at about 16000 which will be just fine for now ! But I digress !!

Oh right so because you think a few people might not be bothered that therefore means that everyone wants us to go down. Have you ever considered a legal career?

“Yes m’lud I think the defendant did steal those chicken nuggets from Iceland”
“Oh well if you think he did it, he must have done then, I’ll give him a hundred hours community service”

Very strange. Would it not be better to stick to posting your own opinion on here, rather than assuming others?

As I’ve said on here previously, a certain gentleman used to write a lot of the articles for the magazine and website, a gentleman who founded the Mudhutter, Mudhuts Media and indeed Cockney Latic. After 42 years watching Latics he now only goes fleetingly and is involved with Wigan Robin Park. I’m not him, nor do I share exactly the same opinions as him, I also wasn’t born the last time we played Goole Town.

Personally, I hope we stick around for decades given the amount of knockers we have including many in our own town who occasionally pop up on here [waves at RLFans lurkers]

It’s not how it used to be but it never will be no matter what level we play at as football is rotten. Unless we get 92 FC United’s owned and run by fans, there will always be exploitation by players and their agents, media influence and extortionate ticket pricing. A working class game watched and played by working class people and you’ll get working class values. A playtoy of millionaires and mass marketed into every home in the country and across the world and it is solely about money these days and apart from at the very highest echelons of the game very few players are worth anything like the wages they earn. The trouble is that everyone else ends up chasing the money and getting further into debt to keep up and I would love to see something revolution like a salary cap introduced globally and the Sky money used to pump money into the grass roots game rather than buying a player their 8th sports car.

It’s not the working class sport it was but I still love my club and want them to do well, preferably with the current manager taking us further up the table over time not down. However, as a keen analyst of financial statements, I also recognise the constraints of retaining Premier League football and that the club is not sustainable at this level.

As far as I am concerned there would only be one small positive element of going down which would be that we might be spared the army of armchair experts who would either have to turn up and watch the game or if not keep their rabid opinions to themselves. The rest of us who are trying to support the club will be spared their diatribe, in many cases, before the game has even finished! From what I can gather and speaking to people who went (and indeed Bobby C on here), many had a good day Saturday – in spite of the result. On the other hand you have hysterical posts talking about having their Saturday ruined from people who have sacrificed an hour and a half sat in front of a computer screen. That’s as big if not more of an real embarassment than the performances on the pitch.

But again I stress, I don’t want us to go down and I don’t foresee a way back even for those saying away games would be better/cheaper, the likes of Oldham are charging £25 these days

‘Dare I say it but a recipe for relegation !! The Mud hutters will be rubbing their hands in anticipation of the drop !’

Filmoss, there are far more negative posters and fans who look to revel in our demise on this site than all the other Latics sites put together.

The Mudhuts site in various guises has in the past appeared to be a bit clicky, and at one time it seemed a little hard to get accepted.
That is no longer the case. If people are sensible with their comments, and don’t make a tool of themselves there is no problem at all.

How pi&&ed off do you get on here when there is a decent thread and some cnut comes on and ruins it with rubbish throw away comments?

There is no doubting whatsoever of the commitment of the editors and their members, they just don’t suffer fools lightly, and a lot of the posters on here don’t like it because of that.

There are some excellent articles and reviews, and some good dicussions on the message board, have another look when you get chance, I am sure you’ll see that.

I’ll see you both in the ‘Brick’ on saturday.

P.S. Thats a pint you both owe me now!!!

To be honest with you, initially it was a mischievous comment with the intention of getting a reaction which it did, but to be fair though as Horc mentioned, the site doesn’t seem to be as clicky now and quite a few of the ” old School ” seem to have gone and so my throw away comment sort of fell on deaf ears if ya get my drift ! No offence intended Jimmy as I already said. There are many on here that would love to see us fail as well I hasten to add ! Can I just ask you sincerely, how many clubs currently in the Prem do you think are sustainable at that level ? I do agree with you that football has gone obscene financially and that one day I believe it will implode big time, but for now I am more than willing to embrace top flight football !

Fcuk me, I’ve just spat my brew all over my monitor.
Have you been on ‘The weakest Link’ again, and won this time??
Chissel, how did you not know what a fcuking chissel did??

You know it will be too cold for Alistair, he’ll want a coffee, black with no sugar, inside next to a radiator away from the fag smoke.

Seriously though, that’s a very nice gesture, two pints of bitter (smooth) please.
If Alistair is too cold and wants coffee I’ll have his aswell.

Thank you Mr Moss, see you on Saturday.
