obviously there is the argument of what Whelan says and what Whelan does ;)
Placing ownership into the hands of Wigan Athletic doesn’t mean that a kindly old gentleman is going to give a £30m stadium away for nothing.
I think it means that the club will go into debt by borrowing the money to buy the stadium from Whelco.
Another case of Mr Whelan pulling his money out before the club is sold?
