Max Power will never be the most technically gifted player .He is that snappy type of midfielder ,enthusiastic and a grafter .A type of player that every successful team needs.I strongly suspect at Sunderland he was let down by more ‘ gifted ‘ players who could not live up to playing for such a ‘ huge ‘ club.

You always were a good honest hard working player and wasn’t surprised that you’ve been one of the best Sunderland players for the 3 seasons you’ve been there. What a journey!For obvious reasons last season at times we were the whipping boys (except for that massive club Blunderland who couldnt take a point off the worse Latics team in 89 years as a club). We wont be this season. I doubt we will be anywhere near promotion as the rebuild is enormous and it will take a few transfer windows to put the squad back together again but we will upset a lot of teams ( nowt new there then). Hopefully a comfortable season after the horrors of last where relegation is never on the cards. COYL

What about £20 bet on the team that finishes the most places higher than they did last season. A fair bet to see which team has progressed more, although it is impossible for us to do better than whack you at home and away again. Over to you buddy.

OK so you’ve chickened out of that bet sunshine. I still think we will get to the championship before Sunderland and for the reasons I have said in my original post. They will continue to buy poor players and like they did with Grigg buy players for far more than they are worth. A constant change in management will continue and the hoards of fans will return to the stadium and get on the teams backs when they go 1-0 down to the likes of Rochdale and dare I say it …Wigan Athletic. I bet the players and management are the only ones in the football league who would prefer to play in an empty stadium.
Enough reasons there for you Mutty? and I would say the same if I was standing face to face with you. The club is a total train wreck and not been through Administration or anything approaching what we’ve been through so you explain why that is. I still say we will get out this league before you, so take my offer of the “see who improves more this coming season” then when you’ve paid out on that we will double the bet to £40 on who will reach the championship first. What a journey!I always liked Max. Enthusiasm, energy and passion count for a lot. When he did score goals he made sure they were always good ones, bring him back, and whilst we’re at it bring back Perkins. They both played well together.
The only thing I didn’t like about Max was at Fleetwood. He gave his shirt to the guy standing next to me, so I asked him if I could have hius shorts, and that was about as fast as I’ve ever seen him run! I failed there, so when DW came across I asked if I could have his tie. Off he went as well. Miserable sods.

1) A better manager for starters;
2) & a decent guy to boot.
3) A great team spirit & bond at Wigan due mainly to the guy at numbers 1 & 2.
4) perhaps not the same kind of pressure a.t wigan to succeed as there is in the north east
5) probably feels more home at wigan & is appreciated by tics supporters.
6) I bet you’re feeling quite silly now.
