Anyone else think James McCarthy would make an absolutely cracking team captain?
Caldwell not suited for the role and having McCarthy back in the frame and playing like his ass is on fire could rub off onto other players.
I would also like this opportunity to say how much Boycie being back has had positive effect. Think he deserves to have a decent run out. Best natural defender we have. also has a bit of pace. likes being adventurous and getting forward. can swing in a very decent cross. in fact i feel weve missed him alot being out injured recently.
lets hope we can get a sneaky bit of luck on saturday, and who knows maybe pick up a point or three.

I’m sure McCarthy would be a great captain when he’s older, but he’s still a big young in my opinion.

I think his age is a bonus. Young, energetic, enthusiastic, no fear, passionate about his game. Also seems to be a leader on the park.
great signing. Just goes to show you dont need to spend millions for quality.

No point in distracting McCarthy with the captaincy, let him get on an be creative. Alcaraz should be captain.
11 February 2011 at 12:58 pm #59102Spot on Edinburgh.Alcatraz for me also.Is it only me who can see he does not like playing along side Caldwell.
Dont burden the lad at his age..
Excellent future for Mccarthy but let him learn steadilyand dont drain his energy on capt just yet,

I think he will be a fantastic captian one day, but a 20 year old doesn’t need that burden.
Also, keep alcaraz as captain rather than that plank caldwell11 February 2011 at 1:43 pm #59108Anonymous
Captaincy can be a burden sometimes. Think its a risk when he’s playing awesome anyway. Try not to change to much and disrupt his mojo 8-)
