Said it before and said it again, the reason why football is different than most sports is that little old wigan can be in the premiership punching above our weight etc. If teams like us and Wimbledon can do it, it gives hope to most other teams out there. If the premiership was based on attendences it would be a dull old world.
19 August 2011 at 3:33 pm #70204I wouldnt go as far to call him a reporter due to his daily struggle to string a simple sentence together but Paul Merson has to be near the top of any shame list!

I’m reasonably confident that he’s referring to rugby league. You know, that world-renowned sport?Correct Mr Exile, although goosie boy was probably thinking of tour de france………………sorry meant yorkshire
19 August 2011 at 6:16 pm #70207Can we add that idiot who co-commentated on Sky for the Stoke game. He couldn’t even use the excuse that he wasn’t there.
Discussing Zog’s contribution as being poor, he said he was worth keeping on for the magic he could produce.
Then he went on to justify his claim when he credited Zog for the special moment of magic when he made the cross that Rodallega headed in.

The first paragraph in this story still winds me up.

“On the face of things, Roberto Martinez did not have much to turn his back on at Wigan. The club’s training ground is in a place called Lower Standing and there’s a rather harsh irony about that because Premier League clubs just don’t stand much lower than Wigan on a number of key criteria.”
Bit of a typical comment but just skimmed the rest of the article and its actually pretty good and fair… :shifty:

Your right about the rest of the article but you know what they say, “First impressions last” and that opening paragraph is one MASSIVE lie.
23 August 2011 at 1:27 am #70310I can only see one thing wrong with it tbh.
Sky have used us in their advert for the Exeter v Liverpool game claiming our Carling Cup exit in 2007 was a giant killing. Maybe the tide is turning?
Nah, thought not.
