Anyone still forking out for that fans fund bo**ocks needs their head testing.
I totally agree that the club feels dead from the feet up. Club has no soul. It’s nothing like the club we were, only in name and badge. It’s awful.
+1
Putting it diplomatically, the club is in an unknown length of “managed” decline, on and off the pitch.
Putting it bluntly, it’s death by a thousand cuts.
The Chinese Gang and the Bahraini Bandits tried to throw us off the cliff; this lot are dragging out the death throes, or so it feels.
Tuesday night was our lowest league attendance for 21 years (Covid era aside of course). I dread to think what next Tuesday will be like if we lose on Saturday.
I know many ST holders who did renew who are admitting privately they thought twice about renewing and are now wishing they hadn’t.
The heart and sole of the club have been taken from us. We survived, prospered then survived again against the odds because of what we are as a club. Our sole, our heart and passion. Take that away there’s nothing left.
Never mind the Future Fund or whatever it’s called, what’s all this about a loyalty scheme? We’ve always had a loyalty scheme FFS, it’s called a season ticket! This loyalty scheme feels like yet another example of the ownership treating us not as loyal supporters but as a commodity to make money out of. The importance of the season ticket seems to keep being diminished to the point I’m not sorry I quit and became a follower from the comfort of my armchair.
A very sad state of affairs.
26 September 2024 at 6:19 pm #203790Have to agree……I certainly need my bumps feeling. I take my 15 year old granddaughter who has really embraced the club irrespective of all the bad vibes. We don’t miss a game at home and do quite a few away. She persuaded me to join the FF scheme…..in fact she paid half the membership. She really bought into its advertised values and against my better judgement I went along. I love being with her at the games and I’m cherishing every minute because as I know with my own children time races on and soon Uni,boyfriends! will relegate me to bank of grandad. Still moan, still go and to be honest as w### as it is at present I still wouldn’t miss being one of the 7500…5000,2000 or whatever for the world.!!!!
26 September 2024 at 9:37 pm #203792You know what though? Personally speaking, I actually thought that Maloney and the owner would prove me wrong. That they’d surprise me by doing certain things. When we got into July and word was going about that this player might be available and it seemed we were waiting for players to become out of contract, and that we could bring some clever and experienced signings in. I was thinking Sarcavic, Sharp, players of that ilk. But no. It never happened.
I’d really expected Maloney to make a mockery of me not renewing for the first time in 38 years. I thought I’d be crawling back at Christmas on a half season ticket. But no.I’d said to my dad that he and my lads renewing wasn’t a good idea. My eldest is already regretting it, sating he’s missing the next couple of games.
The whole thing is an utter shitshow. How long will they let it run for?26 September 2024 at 10:02 pm #203793Walk away orit needs protests but I think that is to late
The ground now belongs to danson and its rugby lovers
Can’t see away out of it we are fucked
Under danson27 September 2024 at 3:56 am #203796One turnstyle open for the whole of the West Stand when the West Stand was the only stand open spoke volumes for me, queuing up from the ticket office turnstyle to Whelan’s Bar.
That’s were we’ve gone, food was a disaster that night pies that looked like they were left overs from Good Friday.
That same night it was nearly dark before the full floodlight system actually kicked in
Staff cutbacks,
Steward cutbacks,
Players cutbacks,
Asking to pay more towards youth set up and prioritise those who can afford to give more on season tickets over loyal fans.
Then we start up a women’s team when clubs running cost and first team wages has been desimated. As I previously stated, I’ve nothing against a women’s side it’s just the timing of it’s start up.
If you have a sinking ship you don’t take on more passengers till you’ve sorted out the source of the leak and stabilised it.
The starting up of a woman’s team won’t come cheap money and for me that’s money that could have been used to improve other areas within the club and ground, then when the times right by all means happily start a women’s side, I’d have no problem then.
Seriously, I think it’s my last season ticket, I’ve lost me Latics mojo for every game and away travel. It’s so sad to watch the club in a slow mo decline then having a multi billionaire in charge who’s tighter than Steptoe want his return.
27 September 2024 at 8:31 am #203800My goodness CW, by the timing of your post it looks like you have just woken up from a nightmare; only to realise that this is now the reality. I agree with you entirely and this could also be my last ST. The Club has never felt so low
And if Andy Burnham introduces the ULEZ zone that will be the last bleeding straw, because the boundary is on Langtree brow / Standish and I’m not paying any more for the privilege of watching my lifelong football team. The end is nigh !27 September 2024 at 1:03 pm #203801The transfer window and Maloney’s demina of late is of a club in decline. Half the squad have no league experience so how the fook can you scout them?. Their players off a list and your told
“Anything for the bottom row”
It’s not the players faults, it’s abit like when Aasgaard got thrown in but it’s took a couple of years to grow up, this 19-20year old lads have to be in fast track mode sense the topsy terby start were havingLook, all’s I want is youth, a spattering of experienced players, some kind of healthier budget not an 500 calorie crash player budget and also designated CEO who can bring it all together and interact. You don’t need to be the King On The Hill to be in charge, you can come and talk to the natives, we don’t bite we just moan alot
In my opinion we need a Talal with a wallet the perfect combo
27 September 2024 at 2:11 pm #203804As stated I’m sadly addicted to going for my reasons but I have to agree with Cws sentiments. Come next season my resolve will be seriously tested if the club continues to be run down.I myself have 3 friends out of 8 who’ve always have season tickets that haven’t renewed but been to a couple of games. Unlikely to be seen for a while for the on the pitch reasons. I agree the club has a flat, going through the motions feel and couldn’t care what others think I’m now really starting to believe the owners silence isn’t his way of doing business more that he’s not interested!
28 September 2024 at 8:00 am #203812The club seems to me to be asking for more and more from the fans in testing times while at the same time their making huge cutbacks across the board.
Granted, for a good few years the club’s been through the ringers run by clueless poor owners and there’s a price to pay but that wasn’t the fault of the fans who stood loyal raising over £800k.
The vast majority are still here but for how long ?. My fear is attracting the younger fans, the next generation.
If it’s not attractive we’ve 4 big clubs within 20 miles of our door all willing to take them.
I remember Whelan doing this, railroading the JJ club out the John Smiths Bar to make way for the blue chip and he stuck them on a double decker bus.
Then the supporters club was pushed over to the gym in Profiles drinking warm tins. Then when the Prem days had gone? he gave the bar to the supporters club when the blue chip had gone back upstairs. My point to this, if you don’t do it right off the field you’ve not a cat in hells chance of getting it right on the field. Were not a big corporate high level were a bums on seats working class club.
Another gripe, Stockport tickets should have gone to the loyalist fans (that’s doesn’t include me) not those who can afford another £64.
If you want to give more by all means do but it shouldn’t give you priority over those who’ve made those long away day journeys so far. I know 1 older guy who’s not missed a game didn’t get a Stockport ticket because he’s not paid into the scheme but someone’s eventually helped him out giving him there’s,
The clubs not in touch it’s a run down business now been run on the cheap and it feels that way. We’ve no expectations just survive. I can’t think of many seasons were our hopes are to remain mid table but that’s how this feels.
One big issue is the manager with his lucky dip hocus pocus approach on team selection and how we play. I feel a more sold manager with a style and settled game plan would help.
28 September 2024 at 8:25 am #203813So what are we expecting in today’s game ?
Me, I’m not confident at all and can imagine Exeter teaching us a lesson; and then Maloney saying that they are an experienced / well organised side. Then to rub salt in our wound, Josh Maggenis get’s the winner
28 September 2024 at 8:53 am #203814Were a lucky dip side at the moment with lucky dip team selection. I wouldn’t even like to have a guess and that’s the issue.
I thought the performance at Bristol Rovers was very good but let’s not get carried away with that. Two goals came from corner scrambles and the goalie gifted us one.I know one thing, we don’t look dangerous or a threat. If I was pushed to call today I’d say 1-1 and ours will be a pen or o.g.
28 September 2024 at 6:39 pm #2038151 recognised striker whose struggling……that’s it !!…Stones won’t be seen again!…..Price you pay for piss poor recruitment. Ranking….really…….Yet again defensively sound …last 3rd …w%%%.Better 2nd half but toothless…..Peterborough up next….another 0-0 …if we’re lucky.
28 September 2024 at 7:49 pm #203816Very unlucky today , last twenty minutes it was all Wigan , their keeper made a great save at the death. Never looked like conceding that’s four games now without conceding a goal. Slowly but surely things are starting to gel , bring on Peterborough on Tuesday. Let’s stop being so bloody negative and start supporting our club. Great to see all the past players at half time today !
28 September 2024 at 9:22 pm #203821Only went today because my lad didn’t go.
Won’t be going to another game before new year now.
It’s awful and I’ve better ways to spend my time. I’ve just got into crafts and model making.
I’m getting older and can’t be arsed with the cowd.

It’s not “bloody negative” and “start supporting your club” we all support our club it’s just fans having honest opinions on how people see it. Whether their negative or positive opinions that’s the basis of been a fan.
I can’t comment really on the Exeter game because I’m still confused as to what I saw.
Granted, we look solid at the back but in front of the back 4 it’s wishy washy football. MacManamans first tackle was a hard fair tackle and he tried to gee up the others because for me we’re too soft not aggressive enough off the ball.
If it’s good I praise and if it’s garbage I’ll say it’s sh*te say what you see. As for yesterday? I’m on the fence as I’m still confused as to what I actually saw, I’m still trying to figure out if it was good or bad it was a whole lot of nothing.
Personally were a finisher short. Taylors half hearted one on one miss is the difference between a lower to middle table side and a top 6-8 side.
I don’t think Hugill and Taylor are good enough to turn these clean sheet games into 3 point games.
We have Hugill and Taylor taking president over our own signed player Josh Stones. Is Stones the answer ? I’m not sure but I know one thing, you’ll certainly never find out if he’s not even making the bench.
Is Hugill better than Stones? Hugill isn’t setting the world on fire up till the 25minute I didn’t even notice he was on the pitch.
At the end of the day, we’ve a group of very young lads and a fair few with little or no experienced coupled with a manager who is tactically sh*t simply not good enough and I don’t think many will argue with that negative but truthful comment.
Unless things change at the club we’ll be swapping virtually the whole squad out every 12 months with young lads and this process will start again season after season.
Building for the future? don’t get me started we cant even build for a year
