We started with 4 at the back. Scharner lined up to the left of Caldwell at the kick off and played most of the match there. We play all season with 3 at the back and then in a game as important as this we change to 4. No wonder the defence was at 6’s & 7’s. Maloney was wasted out on the right and the 2 James were overrun in mid-field. Great tactical changes.

Scharner since he came back has been on the right of the 3 centre halves. Yesterday he was the left centre half in a back 4.
I sit in the South and is was obvious as soon as they lined up.

I cant defend Bobby’s tactics yesterday.
He went to a back four and I think it cost us from the start.
On the flip side of that if we had controlled the game and it worked he probably wouldn’t get the credit for it on here.
is it really that important what formation we play, midfield players are the most important men on the field for me, getting back to help defenders getting forward to help the front men. so if you have three, four, five at the back surely you have more anyway when the opposition are attacking and the same when attacking. bloody easy this managing lark !!
We can only hope yesterday was a bad day at the office.I actually thought it was a poor Liverpool side that gubbed us.Too many passes found red shirts and as for the goals well,Premier league players sunday league defending.We must remedy this part of our game asap or we will be gonners.
He doesn’t hide the fact he basis a lot of his formations and tactics on stats. So the Liverpool game ? We had the most possession, passes completed, shots on/off target but we lost 4-0 . I personally think he got it wrong with his team selection. At least in the 2nd half with the changes made we started to knock it about better and stopped a good hiding .And its time Caldwell moved over , at fault for two goals. Asking a player who’s unbelievably slow to play in a back 3 totally baffles me.
…please drop Al Habsi, Caldwell, McCarthy and Beausejour.Bring in Robles, Alcaraz, Espinoza and McManaman, there’s a good manager.
PS; Please play Maloney in the hole behind Kone and push our quickest player Di Santo out wide in the role Maloney was wasted in tonight. :(

McCarthy, especially, has been out of form for weeks.
