QPR,Preston,Millwall.Norwich…etc.. 0 pts….that’s bad enough but its the totally limp performances . Cook tampered again and got stuffed.
24 October 2018 at 9:44 am #172599Apparently we’ve a strong squad and strength in depth!!! Well not from where I’m looking 10 points from the bottom three and this home form won’t last forever but it’s a start.
24 October 2018 at 10:10 am #172600Cook fecks around with winning formula..if we win and rested key players its another astute managerial decision. Unfortunately for 5th consecutive away game its a f””” up….Naismith,Connolly selected Macmanaman out in cold Vaughan leading the line….piss poor.Excuses from some posters will come thick and fast but yet another away let down.
24 October 2018 at 11:39 am #172601One eye on Saturday maybe but the points were there tonight.
Miss penalties in tight games and it will be crucial but no grigg and no Powell who is going to smash it.Surely we stand a better chance at getting 3 points at a struggling Millwall rather than a high flying Sheffield Utd !.
Utter dog dirt performance a missed 1 on 1 and a pen were they never got the ball back.
Laing scored a cracker for Oldham and Cole for Burton but we’ve nothing to worry about, we’ve got Garner and Vaughan24 October 2018 at 11:53 am #172602QPR,Preston,Millwall.Norwich…etc.. 0 pts….that’s bad enough but its the totally limp performances . 24 October 2018 at 3:24 pm #172603Ah, the good old Cockney Latic message board never fails to deliver after a defeat!
To put things into a bit of perspective:
- Powell and Roberts can’t play two full games in a week, plus Byrne has been out injured for most of the season and lacks match fitness. That’s why there were changes.
- We only have 3 fit central midfielders at present: Morsy, Evans and Connolly
- Vaughan was brought in because Windass had to play out wide as Roberts and Byrne aren’t fit to start, Jacobs and Massey are out injured, and McManaman doesn’t look up to it.
- Also bear in mind, Vaughan has been out injured, as has Garner, so neither are fully match fit.
- We are in 10th place.
- We are 1 point off the play-places, and 6 points off 1st place.
- Survival was seen as the priority this season and we already have nearly half the average points that are usually required to avoid relegation.
- We re still minnows in a pond full of big fish!
I don’t come on here very often these days but it’s reassuring to see the meltdowns have never left!

Thank God it isn’t just me thinking that.
As for McManaman, we brought him on and I honestly forgot we had until he gave a free kick away. Definitely the new version of Ryan Colclough.

And you made that comparison after he came on for a full 7-8 minutes ? Fook me !!I’d rather blame the team and managers starting 11 rather than any individual.
There was really poor performances right across the board.
I personally think team selection was the main reason we lost. Resting players 14 games in beggars belief. Windass should not play out wide and should have been up top last night he’s failed miserably out wide this season too often already. Powell should have played behind Windass. He should be up to it one game after a two week break. Byrne and Roberts should be fit, neither have played all season. Failing that McManaman should play and if he isn’t fit should not be paid but if we haven’t seen him play how do we know he looks up to it or not.
There was a great opportunity to have grabbed three points last night with little or no tinkering and if for some reason professional players are not fit after two games rest them for the Sheffield game.24 October 2018 at 6:50 pm #172611Vaughan was brought in because Windass had to play out wide as Roberts and Byrne aren’t fit to start, Jacobs and Massey are out injured, and McManaman doesn’t look up to it.Windass should not play out wide and should have been up top last night he’s failed miserably out wide this season too often already. The players are wired up these days, and their bodies and performances during matches and training session are constantly monitored.
The manager and his staff also sees these player each day in training and can assess if they’re performing at an acceptable level or there’s a risk of injury.
But you’re right. Lazy bastards have had two weeks off and should be thrown in.
Fck em
24 October 2018 at 7:23 pm #172612Your words Standish even though it’s a rather shite version of irony or mild sarcasm.
Us mere minions although not having the aptitude to even kneel at the feet of your expertise do have an inkling of sports science that contributes to the game and we do even know the management and coaches work with the players every day.
Please tell me and others who have the audacity to have an opinion that differs to yours why then this same science and observation technique was not applied to some players like Gary Roberts, Callum McMannaman etc before they were signed. If it was then what went wrong?24 October 2018 at 7:29 pm #172613Vaughan was brought in because Windass had to play out wide as Roberts and Byrne aren’t fit to start, Jacobs and Massey are out injured, and McManaman doesn’t look up to it.

If they are fit enough to be on the bench they must be fit enough to play, if not, they shouldn’t be on the bench. We have loads of kids eager enough for first team selection who could have sat on the bench all night.
If Byrne, Roberts, Powell or McMannaman were unfit, they still would have done more than Naismith, Connolly and an out of position Windass.
I know Paul Cook should know best, but surely he can see that something is dramatically wrong in the team selection and systems he is playing away from home.
That said, if Windass had put the penalty away and Vaughan hadn’t missed that sitter, none of these posts would have been made, and Paul Cook would have looked like a genius.
Fine margins separate teams in this league, but with a bit more positivity away from home those margins can easily be breached.
A top ten finish is not out of our reach.24 October 2018 at 7:44 pm #172614Hmmmm! Typical meltdown after a loss.
