I was just seeing what other clubs thought about it when I stumbled across this forum. If you scroll down you will notice the obligatory piss take out of our support!

Of course you’ll get the piss taken out of our support because playing music after a goal is scored is seen as compensating for having small crowds that don’t create an atmosphere.
7 September 2018 at 6:24 pm #171622Nowt wrong with a small town surrounded by big and other clubs having small support. I can’t understand the mentality of anyone criticising Latics support. It’s pretty big considering all the factors and it’s about time somebody started shouting that from the rooftops that Latics are well and not poorly supported even if crowds seem poor to some.

7 September 2018 at 7:16 pm #171624Its utter shit and thankfully seems to get drowned out by the es2 lads and lasses.
7 September 2018 at 8:47 pm #171625If you pick the right song its brilliant for keeping the crowd on their feet after we score. Big yes from me.I see it differently Nuneaton – there’s few sports that see such spontaneous & prolonged celebrations for things than football and its that spontaneity & hell for leather celebrations that are one of its attractions for me.
I know it’s an extraordinary game & example, but think back to the FA Cup final in 2013. Remember how you felt, remember how you celebrated & then think about the celebrations that were all over youtube & social media (“OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD!!!”) and then think about the celebrations that were on TV (some fella with long hair looking like he was gonna explode whilst punching the air & another bloke behind him with an inane grin on his face, eyes popping out of his head whilst just grabbing & shaking anyone within reach of him)
Now go back to that moment & within a few seconds, cut it all dead by playing some music that does nothing but stop everyone’s spontaneous celebrations & has everyone doing some crappy, cheesy co-ordinated danceKeep the goal music or similar for ice hockey, rugby league or 20/20 cricket but please keep it away from football

OK celebrations & has everyone doing some crappy, cheesy co-ordinated danceKeep the goal music or similar for ice hockey, rugby league or 20/20 cricket but please keep it away from football[/quote]
Totally disagree, it gets the owd uns like me off my seat and jigging around like a fitting seal. Also bugs the away fans to death seeing the blue masses dancing in unison. Its a modern thing and one that should be kept. What I can’t understand is why some of our fans moan about the tune. They obviously don’t go to many away games as the club tends to choose tunes that we have chants to. Little Wigin are taking the piss for example, the Tom Hark ditty and der der der der, Wigan Latics..

JR TotTALLY agree with you. I love reacting the dance of the fitting seal when ever I can!! But I can only do it to music!
7 September 2018 at 10:34 pm #171629There does seem to be a slight delay this time around in the goal being scored and the music starting. Maybe they are making fully sure the ref has allowed, or just giving the fans a few seconds to celebrate the goal how it should be celebrated before drowning out the celebrations with that racket.

Correct. There’s a time and a place and football isn’t it.

Obviously the final is different a neutral venue and I fully agree that music would be stupid in that scenario. That’s why if you are using music after a goal it is imperative to pick the right tune. Something that is more of a chant than a song Pig Bag or similar that turns into a football related song that gets the crowd buzzing. Christ no organ music used in ice hockey aaaarrrggghhh that is nauseating.

8 September 2018 at 3:43 pm #171639If you’re suggesting there’s a time and place for goal music and that it has to be the right tune then it’s already on dodgy ground. It’s either right or wrong. Well not even that. It’s just wrong.

Well not even that. It’s just wrong.Doubt Wolves fans would agree Sammy Liquidator is an integral part of their match day experience and along with Hi ho silver lining which they come out to has become their identity in a way. This at a ground that normally has great atmosphere.
