i have thought about posting this message for some time now as the in-fighting amongst our fans is now becoming in my opinion ridiculous. i appreciate that people are entitled to their opinion(s), which should always be respected & valued – but to me, its becoming a forum not one of opinion & general disagreement, but one of slanging matches, bitching & indeed – in-fighting, when really we should be sticking together.
my theory for this is that as we are now in our 6th season in the premier league – which is 5 more seasons than what i thought we would have, watching games amongst some of our supporters seems to be one of pressure as opposed to enjoyment. even i will admit to some extent when i watched wigan during the lower leagues losing a game didn’t matter to me as much (even though i didn’t want us to lose) because we had a chance of winning the following week. i think the problem certain fans have with us being in the premier league is when we lose a game we look at the upcoming fixtures & sit there studying who we think we will have winabble* games against, then when it dosen’t happen (i.e. against blackburn & fulham) we panic.
my message is to just enjoy the ride whatever division we are in, because i’ll still be there no matter what. i look forward to reading your opinions!!

    * not sure of the spelling for that one.

I agree with you by the way.

i have a theory on the very same subject

sack martinez and all our “in-fighting” will cease before he has even cleared his desk

    #50349

Thank Christ Bolshy didn’t introduce us yesterday, you’re one tedious and miserable fecker.

You know, sometimes I agree with a lot of what you say – it’s called being open-minded – but your relentlessly dull line of attack gets people’s back up.

And no doubt when Martinez does get sacked you’ll find something else to moan about

    #50351

Well then griff if that is the case tell me what you knew about my cyber history pre martinez -so what else will i moan about.

i want what is best for the club i have supported since i was 5 years old – and we are in the position now that i could never have dared dream about
when i talk football with people at work or on holiday or anywhere i am we discuss it on equal terms ,not like it used to be, a few patronising comments then ignored because its obvious supporting a lower league club means you know f-all and your opinion doesnt count.

it also means i can watch my team every week via tv or even computer when its impossible to get to games just like yesterday, this may not please the ones who claim they went to every away game pre premier league and think they are the only ones allowed an opinion, but it is what the majority of all football fans want.
That first season we were promoted we as a family made a decision to go to every game – our thinking as many others was live the dream we may never have the chance again a conservative estimate for costs that season was some 5 THOUSAND pounds i cannot afford that anymore and a dodgy internet connection is now the norm.

i am also a realist and know we are probably at the very peak of the what we can ever achieve in football but i am no different to any other football fan we all want more.

I never wanted martinez in the first place and believe he was given the job for all the wrong reasons and everything he has done since has proved worse than what ever i expected,
whelan knows all this its all part of his down – sizing strategy of his involvment in wafc whelan and the comments he made a few weeks ago re:- if martinez goes so he will as well, confirmed to most his future plans well before he made them public.

    #50361

What a bizarre set of random comments they were. I’m completely bemused as to the point you were trying to make.

Let’s just take this fairly easy one:

i want what is best for the club i have supported since i was 5 years old

Just out of interest, what is that exactly? Try to respond with something other than “sacking Martinez”

And this makes no sense at all. If Whelan is looking to sell the club, he needs it to retain the highest possible value. Why would he therefore appoint a manager he thought was bobbins, who would take us down, therefore reducing that value spectacularly?

Thats why if we lose our next two games, im afraid it could be the end for martinez, whelan needs this club in the prem to get the best deal for him and his family, just my opinion,

i want to see us play football or even see us give some effort and at least try,
it could be a passing game or long ball stuff i dont care – just entertain us and yes win the odd game, but with some kind of effort and make it hard to turn down a 20 min drive to blackburn and cheap ticket -instead of choosing a 700 mile weekend drive -because i dont enjoy going any more(call me a bad supporter if you like but my season ticket sits in a draw semi used)
people can say what they want about the ‘bad old days of swain/bates and the like but it was never as boring as now.

and to answer the question you have asked the only thing that would give me any hope for the future is the sacking of martinez.

spot on, we go the game to be entertained not to be bored,

the same as whelan did turning the warriors or orrell into teams at the top of their respective piles so he got maximum return when he disposed of them.

I have said it before WAFC has cost whelan NOTHING -we are all well aware we would not be where we are now without him but financially he will walk away with every penny he ever put in
when whelan ended his relationship with JJB sports WAFC became surplus to his future plans -so no whelan does not need to maximise any value in wigan athletic.

PSKL – don’t they say boredom is a disease of the unintelligent mind, or something similar?

It’s just your opinion that the way we play is boring. I, for one, happen to like it. I admit we aren’t very good at it but just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it boring.

        #50372

LMB – that’s the completely opposite argument. On the one hand you say he sells the rugby at the peak of its value yet he is apparently scheming to get Latics relegated ready for him to sell as their value drops.

Doesn’t add up. Just like the £30m odd loan in the accounts doesn’t add up to Whelan not spending a penny

now i am convinced you just want to argue with me no matter what i say -i wouldnt normally say this to you -far from it -but get your brain cells in gear and read it again then ask your dad what state wrlfc was in when he disposed of them (hes a fan isnt he) they were on their arses – orrell were finished as a club -why do warrior fans hate whelan so much and boycott stadium sales.

it does not matter one jot to whelan what state any of the clubs are in – as i said its cost him nothing -and the appointment of martinez was a no loser for whelan – if it goes pear shaped, as it is doing, he will claim he gave the people their champion as was their wish and if he succeeded he will take the plaudits either way he comes up smelling of roses.

I have never said that whelan has spent nothing – but lets balance that 30 million loan with the millions of free publicity and marketing that both he and JJB sports have had under his tenure. What i actually said, again i urge you to read it again,is when he walks away it will not have cost him one penny and some may even want to errect an edifice in his honour.

oh i forgot his ego has already prompted him to do that

like i said b4 its my opinion, just because i find it boring doesnt mean you find it boring, if everybody was the same in life, it would be boring. dont follow, make your own decisions in life ;)
