I was in the nw corner (opposite to the away end). No body (tv) showed the incident when nani assaulted figgy after he protected the ball going out for a goal kick. What happened and why was nani not booked?
And why did we not get a free kick (and a booking for vidic) when he fouled zog?
I thought we looked like we made even more progress. Thomas was excellent and even s caldwell had a good game. Alacaraz was stupid and Hugo idiotic! After that it wasn’t a contest but the lads stayed disciplined and did not cave in. THAT IS REAL PROGRESS.21 November 2010 at 6:55 pm #51410I haven’t seen it on tv but from what I saw is it looked like Nani tried to push Figeuroa into the ball got annoyed and tried to throw him to the floor when it went out, Atkinson just bottled making a decision. From where I was sat I thought the foul on N’Zogbia was in the area but obviously from what I have read he was outside the area, but he was giving it in front of the Stretford End was he.
The Hugo sending off looked like a good tackle what I saw and looked like he got the ball but Alcaraz was stupid I knew he was going to do it when he charged over but did he actually make contact with fletcher? From what I’ve read he didn’t so i’m not so sure.
Lots of small decisions went against us during the game and we definately didn’t get the rub of the green. As for progress I feared the worst after the two red cards but we did well to keep it to 2 nil. I think the midfield was on top of theirs up until the red cards and Diame and Thomas were both outstanding. We looked dangerous through N’Zogbia on the break but if Moses would have started I believe we would have caused them a lot more problems.
Were moving in the right direction and played some good stuff. Teams of old would have crumbled but I thought we played well and did not let us down one bit apart from Hugo and Alcaraz.21 November 2010 at 7:17 pm #51412I thougt zog should have had a penalty but having seen it on tv the foul happened just outside the box and he tried to stay on his feet but couldn’t recover his balance. The ref should have given the foul regardless and should have booked vidic for trying to wrestle him down.
When I saw Hugo go in both feet were off the ground so I had no argument with decision. I thought too “here we go 4 or 5 so credit to them. The problem was there was no where to go when we did get the ball, so it just kept coming back.
Good performance. There is hope, we need to beat west ham so we don’t let a gap form.
Cleverly will be back and hopefully Boyce will bolster the defensive options.21 November 2010 at 10:37 pm #51419I thougt zog should have had a penalty but having seen it on tv the foul happened just outside the box and he tried to stay on his feet but couldn’t recover his balance. 22 November 2010 at 12:46 pm #51428With Alcaraz’s 2 yellows I don’t think that by the letter of the law we can argue with either of them to be honest
I’ve watched the second challenge a few times & whilst I don’t think there’s any doubt that Fletcher was on his way down before there was contact I think there was contact. You can also give a foul & a card even if there isn’t contact if the challenge is reckless, doesn’t get the ball & forces the opposition player to have to jump out of the way & in doing so loses their balance on landing so i can see why the ref gave it
The first one was no doubt a foul & a cynical one coz it prevented Obertan (I think) being able to put in a cross from a good position but I’ve got no doubt that no United player would have been booked for an identical challenge
Why the foul on N’Zogbia by Vidic wasn’t given I’ve no idea although it was outside the area – maybe the way N’Zogbia fell over clearly looking for the penalty when he’d lost the ball & could have stayed on his feet convinced the ref that he’d also made the most of the initial challenge. Either that or he bottled it

Agree with that. As soon as Rodallega’s feet left the ground, that was it.
22 November 2010 at 4:07 pm #51445i would say that Zog didn’t dive but tried to stay on his feet but couldn’t. His balance had been knocked and the momentum carried him. similar to Moses the other week when he was tackled and managed to stop the ball going out for a through in but he hit the ground. the ref then pulled it back to where the foul had happened. Rightly so.
