Looks like the stadium will have it’s new blue and white seats that Talal promised.
As Leneghan and co have agreed a deal for the worriers to lodge for another few years, the contract will be signed in next few weeks, therefore allowing Talal to get his seats done.
Away a lot, but always watching
28 March 2022 at 11:12 pm #195966Aye, but how much are the lodgers paying?
3 April 2022 at 4:58 pm #196018Pollard is a 2 faced shitehawk.
4 April 2022 at 6:56 am #196022I stand to be corrected but I seem to remember the chubsters paid something like 10%-15% of all their gate fees per match while under Whelans ownership and I think it remained in place while we had those f##kin ripoff merchants at the helm.
If they took 100k on a match day work that out,
They have basically got away with blue murder. If I were in charge they’d be playing over the Fosters fields up ince they’d be out the door. Why doesn’t Latics take over Sharpies chippy and make it home to a top sports/supporters bar and store,

I dare say the owners of the DW would rather not have them there too, but looking at the bigger picture, kicking the rugby out, whilst gaining immortality amongst a few hundred who still hold a hatred of the rugby from the 1980s, would alienate much of the town, including the council who own the land on which the DW is built and have waived the ground rent since it was built. I imagine the expulsion of the Warriors would suddenly change that arrangement with full ground rent being charged, and increased year on year, licences and access permissions would take longer, applications to use the DW for other events would be refused on the grounds that the owners by their eviction of the rugby didnt want other events taking place. Pretty soon, the DW would become a white elephant, only used on match days 23 times a year, and only ever half full on those 23 times. The owners would face having to continually make up the difference, and eventually, your ST price will be hiked to help cover that.
The problem with principles and grudges is there is generally a cost, be that financial or a sacrifice. If you really want a rugby-free stadium, how much are you personally prepared to pay for your ST, bearing in mind that for every extra £100 you are happy to pay, there will probably be two others who jack it in due to the increased cost.
4 April 2022 at 9:16 am #196024‘a hatred of the rugby from the 1980s.’
There is a misconception that the animosity between Latics and the rugby commenced following Doris comments in the late 80s. It was established long before that.
4 April 2022 at 5:11 pm #196027All about money but I’d love the minority sport leeches to piss off to the Unibollocks.or Aspull playing fields. .Lindsey was the start ….ending with the cockroach Leneghan and the turd Pollard virtually trying to bury the Wigan Athletic skeleton. F### em……does anyone actually watch the shite outside the M62 corridor.????
4 April 2022 at 6:15 pm #196031Mutty is spot on. Won’t happen because of the council. The rugby would have to walk away by their own accord I feel, which I wish they would. Not a fan of the stadium for either club. Too big and soul less. Wish we had done a Blackpool or Widnes in rugby and done up the two stadia bit by bit. Doubt the council would have allowed that though.
For the record … IL offered to buy the stadium if it couldn’t be sold….ie if Latics weren’t bought. If nobody bought the club then the stadium would just stand there becuase it can’t be developed on for houses which is all anyone wanted it for.

Without sounding like an echo, no he wasn’t. I suppose it depends how old you are and how your memory is.

Most of those who were taught to hate the rugby that long ago are either dead or very close to it. Having hate in your heart for that long really is quite sad. I grew up in the 1980s and really cant remember the hatred towards a completely different sport, but thats me I guess – someone who just ignores hate for what it is – a wasted emotion.
5 April 2022 at 12:44 pm #196046The word I used was animosity. The Doris comment was 1987, therefore supporters who were 15 or so would now be 50 years old. Dead or very close to it?
5 April 2022 at 2:07 pm #196048It was 1985. He talks about the two clubs at wembley.
5 April 2022 at 2:17 pm #196049It was prior to Latics QF with Leeds and a reference to the travelling support to Wembley in 1985.
5 April 2022 at 3:51 pm #196051Hate ? No…Detest ?…Absolutely……Lindley showed the same for us and I’m sorry but Leneghan and Pollard would have happily seen us fold. Being a Sunderland and Rugby fan then you obviously didn’t feel the pain we all did during the administration. We now undoubtedly are Efl team of the season irrespective of finishing position ….this seasons achievements are in another stratosphere to what we all expected. The wugby executive must be pissed…..Good!!!
6 April 2022 at 9:18 am #196061We were both wrong.
It was March 1986 in the lead up to Wigan playing Castleford in the cup (lost)
