Manager reckons 2 new players due in before the weeks done.

      Please please please please please

Can we have a change of mentality and direction by the powers that be ?

No player over the age of 27

Year after year we go down the same old path bringing in 30+ players who are after one decent 2 year payday before they take the drop in pay and move nearer home i.e.Shinnie and Naylor been prime examples.

Most players by the time they hit 30 lack that ambition we are going to need in L1 and most carry an abundance of injuries.
Let’s lower the average age to below 25 so what we lack in experience we’ll more than make up for in hunger and passion.

I’m praying Maloney ain’t gonna announce 32 year old and 33 year old ……
I’m glad it ain’t Richardson because he would follow in the Paul Cook shoes older the better (an old Cow Shed remark)

Young and hungry I say remember Alan Hanson !!

      Absolutely agree here CW.

The head coaches/managers who always want older heads are often the ones who aren’t that good at developing players. If Maloney is a good coach, then he should relish having some young, hungry players to work with.

I want Maloney to achieve success as he has an understanding of the club but I personally think this job is humongous and I’m not sure it’s a job for such an inexperienced manager.
I want him to be successful I truly do but for him to do it in our current predicament it will take a miracle. That’s unless Danson throws the money around like confetti and were will that get us?,

Well, I reckon it will take us straight back to were we’ve just come from

        There you go:

First up a 20 year old :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Suppose to be a very promising footballer who turned Celtic down to join Bayern.

I think those clubs saw something

By that do you mean the Championship?

One swallow and all that but our first signing looks like a game changer.

            Fingers crossed for more.

I reckon that this new age criterion, puts pay to me and Horc getting a game  :bye:

A few weeks ago I really thought we were in real danger of going under completely so to bring in a new signing is brilliant and this lad looks the real deal.Hopefully a few more like him set to arrive with a few big earners leaving. Can’t wait for next season , steady the ship try to avoid relegation and build from there. Come on Latics !

I mean in the sh1t no paddle. Spending large amounts of money on older players wages then getting promotion only to find their not up for it doesn’t suit us, it’s not our DNA.
I remember right back to the day were we would buy a bargain, nurture then sell on for a tidy profit but not only that they would give us a season or two, the list is endless.

That’s the bit we’ve lost and probably why we’ve constantly been in the sh1t with the past 2 owners, that ability to bargain hunt then bring them through the ranks. Jesus Christ almighty there’s something sadly wrong at a club like us with our geographical location that we can’t pick up some talented released lads from surrounding clubs.
Fcuk to 30+ year old players who offer nothing on £10k+ so hats off to Maloney using his Celtic knowledge picking up Morrison.

Morrison was listed in 2020 in the top 60 most promising young players in the UK and for him to be on the bench for Bayern in a game ? Jesus at 20 years of age that takes some serious doing.

Lets hope he’s not a bench warmer

I think that is where Maloney differs to Richardson. I can see a lot more younger players being signed. That being said, I do hope we manage to get Kelly back. He showed in 35 or so minutes in his one cameo appearance last season that he could prove to be a valuable asset for this season.

I think this Saturday the 1st of July will reveal alot about some of the players agents and the players themselves and how much they want to stay.
So far neither the club or players have been forthwith as to who can leave for free.
I would imagine it will be down to each individual players contract and if it has a late payment 3 strikes your out clause attached.
The likes of Lang Whatmough Pearce Magennis Wyke and a few others will turn their hand over come the weekend. I’m in no doubt one or two do have clauses and they’ll probably already know were there going.

Strange how they never activated it last October after the 3rd payment was missed, suits you Sir I say.

I dont think expectations will be very high next season , fifth bottom will be an acheivement but agree with sentiment about young hungry players.
keeping league 1 status will do for me and if there is money to invest than develop our youth training facilities and try to pick up cast offs from the big local clubs.
Lets hope they give Shaun the time to build up the club and i think he deserves plenty of time in view of his efforts last year in very difficult circumstances.
Ex Latics players have always done well in the management chair and the stats back that up.

Bar Caldwell who got thrown to slaughter. But I have to agree and I’m sure Danson didn’t become a billionaire being gun ho and thrithful. A sensible approach is what we need because first and foremost, we need our club to stay alive but like I said before, the manager has probably the hardest job since when DW told Martinez to clear the decks and start again.

Caldwell did achieve promotion but was blessed with parachute payment budget from memory.
Every ex Latics manager has achieved something and before somebody mentions Barrow ,dug us out the crap in 1994-5 before Whelan showed his hand.
Give the bloke time and let him build up the club , if that means several years bouncing around league 1 and 2 then so be it.
My prediction for next season is one of consolidation and safety with a dream season being a play off spot.
