Let the other teams write us of at their peril !
We could rack up another Wembley appearance
28 June 2023 at 7:40 pm #200195Ssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh LHL.. might upset the Winterhillbillies . they’re still spouting their bile on ‘Terrace Talk ‘ .. apparently they ‘ want JM ‘ .. to warm the bench to piss us off .. cretins ..
28 June 2023 at 9:46 pm #200196Let them have him. He’s passed it here unless we play him from the bench.
28 June 2023 at 10:07 pm #200197It’s going to be a strange one for Maloney. Has he got enough in him for a relegation dog fight. He was up against it last year from day one but we didn’t advance up the league whatsoever. His brand of football just isn’t the roll your sleeves up and get at em. Settled for nil nil draws from the kick off last season. He will have to pull something out of the bag akin to Leam in the admin season where it was belt and braces. Pussy footing around with tippy tappy early on could see us up to 15 points adrift before September. Pressure is on Shauny lad just get the ball up the park asap, forget Martinez, forget a boring passing game, forget wing backs unless you bring three in, forget playing out of defence. Get an out and out winger on and two strikers to develop a partnership. Yip just put defences under pressure and yes just forget Martinez and his turgid tactics.
Oh and good luck if our Billionaire owner doesn’t back you the way Dave Whelan backed his managers.29 June 2023 at 7:17 am #200198I have to agree, it takes a type of player and style totally different to the Championship to be competitive and successful in League One.
Has Maloney got what it takes or a team to do it?, for me he needs to adapt and recruit to suit to the League. One thing that has to sort out is wide men with pace. Both current forward Wyke and Magennis will 100% need this. For the past few seasons we have had zero pace in the squad. We must be the slowest team in all four league’s this has to change.
If it’s play it out from the back 24/7 were knackered. We need to get it to the forwards quick and if it means long ball so be it.
I’m torn, I’m hoping he gets it right infact I’m praying he does but I just think this is one massive undertaking due to the amount of players he needs and gelling them in a few weeks. Some of these contracted players currently here need to get their finger out their arses and stop another drop. Some have been on top dollar for far too long and shown fcuk all.
If you were in a 9-5 you’d have had a letter by now about the lack of productivity.29 June 2023 at 11:55 am #200201Well done to young Charlie Hughes in signing a 5 year deal.
He knows in the long term it’s a brilliant career move. A few years experience in the Latics and if he improves no doubt a big money move which benefits not only him but the club as well, fair do’s.29 June 2023 at 5:23 pm #200205Well done to young Charlie Hughes in signing a 5 year deal.

Need to find a few more from that youth set up because it can save fortunes in the long run.30 June 2023 at 2:43 pm #200210There you go:
A winger for Donnys Page, and for Cup Winners – he’s only a young un !
1 July 2023 at 6:42 am #200214Won’t take much to surpass Edwards’s stint at Wigan. Heard McManamans back for a third stint. Although he’s a Latics legend I’m not so sure at 32 years old he’s gonna be up for it due to his fair share of injuries and fitness issues. Saying that I suppose he’ll be good for the changing room, thats if they can understand him
1 July 2023 at 9:18 am #200219I can see McManaman only being used as a last 20 – 30 minutes sub in all honesty.
4 July 2023 at 8:01 pm #200233At this current moment in time we have 17 players. There’s question marks hanging over 3 if not 4 players on whether their staying or going.
Based on that say 3 went we’d need a min of 8. If we move 4 up from the youth we still need 4 more if not 6.
Maloney’s got his work cut out I just hope he keeps the age down like he’s doing.4 July 2023 at 8:01 pm #200234Removed double post
