No its us who have gone
14 March 2019 at 2:28 am #177230We are in the shit no doubt but unlike wiganers my first instinct isnt to boo and call for the managers head. Especially when it has got us next to nowhere in the past aside from rosler who we sacked when we got the chance.
So far, nobody calling for his head has managed to name a sucessor that would realistically a- come and b- be affordable. The “anyone will do” line dont wash especially when the last 2 times we have done it have been mackay and joyce.
We cant just sack him, we have to sack him AND appoint the right man or we set ourselves back even further.
The club needs consistency on and off the field. Ideally we stay in this division but we should keep him one way or the other in my opinion because constantly changing the manager and squad every 18 months will get us nowhere.

No its us who have gone[/quote]absolutely spot on there nun.we are in direstraights.
14 March 2019 at 2:32 am #177232I hate to say it but, “I told you so” but it wasn’t like it crept up and went “Boo !! your heading down” it’s been happening month after month till the point were now fully immersed in a relegation fight.
All fan’s hate a knee jerk reaction but this is disclocated hip replacement. How Cook had got away with it for so long just beggars belief. His choice of signings along with team selections, subs and unknown tatics clearly shows everythings winged and off the cuff and inability to man manage and raise the players heads and get them to fight to the bitter end.
The last straw for me was Clarke arriving at the club just after letting 2 forwards go 1 on deadline day.
Some fools on here were saying “Look at his record at Sheff Utd” I ask you, why did a promotion chasing club replace him then? and we’d already had first hand experience of his scoring abilities which makes it all the worse.
Like I’ve previously said the owners are in a win win situation.
We stay up Cooks done a job and they re-access his position in the off season,
We go down?, Well the IEC will have a guy who has experience at promotion from League One and no need to pay him off thus saving a few dollar.
I personally think he’s here till the bitter end regardless of our position and by the looks of it the players are aware of this.
If we face Millwall on the final day to stay up were down. Under Cook these players don’t give a fook, it will have gone to far for a recovery to take place. The players are more bothered about TUI rather than WAFC

Still nobody Id rather watch
14 March 2019 at 3:53 am #177243It’s not a case of who will we appoint at the 11th hour it’s all about lifting and removing the black cloud of doom Cook has brought upon us and his negative management skills which seems to have recently entered the changing room at whippet pace over the past month or so.
They are simply not playing for him, I mean, how many clubs have you seen who were in a freefall then once the manager gets the chop there’s this sudden upsurge in form even though nothing much has changed bar the manager, you only have to look at Utd and Morihnio just to name one.
The performance and body language of some of those players on Tuesday for me was unacceptable and unbelievable and the Royles and the IEC should have reacted immediately .
You could employ Timmy Mallet right now as our interim manager and I’m sure we’d win our first game.
I said it all along, it’s a division too far for him and as soon as he started making those recent negative public noises he should have gone before the players caught this hopeless doom and gloom infection.
So should we:
Stay as we are and take a chance and possibly go down ?, no not for me thanksI much prefer the idea of instantly stopping the rot before it completely takes over the squad like the bubonic plague and before you know it were back in League One with a whole new squad built from scratch at a cost of 30 bob and a bag of planters.

At games this season the manager and players have received unwavering support. I’m struggling to think of many clubs where the crowd wouldn’t have turned long ago. Myself, I set a deadline of early January for Cook to turn things around. The new man needed that window to bring his own players in. In retrospect it was another dreadful window. The quality we did bring in being injury prone. The rest not upto the task.
I’ve seen no improvement since the turn of the year, if anything things have been getting worse. Far worse. The much anticipated returnees from injury have made zero impact and Cook increasingly looks lost. For me, baring a miraculous recovery, Cook has already burned all his bridges. Regarding managerial candidates, there have been realistic, affordable options. From Rowett to Allardyce (probably short-term), and now, Jones. Personally, I also rate Keith Hill. Although I admit this is a left field choice that could split fans from the off.
It’s make or break Saturday. What have we got now, nine games left. We need a win. Not even a draw is good enough. We’ve seen Reading, Millwall and Rotherham fight for their lives and start to pick up those important 3pts. I’m honestly struggling to see where we could pick-up another 3pts after Saturday. No more excuses, no more players crying off after 75 minutes. Fight for the shirt, show some pride, and use that undoubted quality to get us out of this ****.

Spot on and well put.I’m glad you mentioned his choice of player in the transfer window. Cook clearly prefers age and experience over youth and bit of er gamble which has clearly backfired due to injuries. Since Olson started we have conceded 6 in 2 his sell by date well gone.

If ever a post highlighted a posters small mind it’s this one.
14 March 2019 at 10:33 am #177248We simply must win the next two home games to give us any chance of staying up .
Our survival strategy seems to rely on at least three other teams being even worse !
After Bolton and Brentford games, how many points from Bristol, Hull, Norwich, Leeds, Preston and Birmingham? At the moment anything more than zero looks like a bonus.
The last rites will be played out on 5th May. For once I’m not sorry I’ll be 1000 miles away enjoying a glass or two of Bordeaux.
That’s the Dark Side talking. We are Wigan and we will find a way out of this mess! Come on chaps, the revival starts Saturday at Bolton’s expense!
