Signing Clarke was a punt. A punt worth taking given our strikers scoring record in this division. He may have disappointed but his one goal equals the record of both Grigg and Vaughan in their 15 games between them in League one. He may not be the answer but let’s not pretend they were as if losing them was some key moment and it was Cooks decision not IEC’s. These conmen who have taken us over have no interest in our club as the January transfer window showed clearly. Since their takeover we have won 3 games from 23.

Anyone who thinks big Sam would come to wigan is deluded.

As for a new manager lifting the cloud, I remember that working well with Mackay and Joyce.

It isn’t surprising really that 5 of the bottom 6 have the smallest budgets in the league. Very rare that someone punches above their weight and does well. You usually finish whereabouts your budget is. More often than not its clubs underachieving and signing crap.

We had a few bids turned down in January so they tried to spend but we were in a tough position to attract players I suppose.

Currently out of the 3 were 2nd come the end if the season we could be bottom of the 3, so I ask you all what the fuck has gone wrong and who is at fault .
We should be above the other 2.

If that’s how it works grumps, then why does the same team not win the Premier League every season and the same 3 sides just yo-yo up and down.

I could score at Sheff Utd, Grigg and Vaughan would be on 20 plus there. Clarke’s had around 22 clubs rarely has he been at a club longer than 12months and at some bought then loaned.
Take out the period at Sheff Utd and he’s record is in par with mine in my ami days and I was dog sh1t.

We had him for 10 games about 4 years ago and he was awful then and now he’s older he’s no better, infact he’s declined.
It wasn’t a punt I’m sure that if Vaughan had of been given the starts Clarke’s has had “right now” in the position were are he wouldn’t be any worse and possibly be better.
And a guy at he’s age should by now understand the off side rule.

No it wasnt a gamble, it was a sign desperation. Ask yourself this, why would a promotion chasing club who now lie 3rd, bare in mind a nats dick off the Prem get rid of a player if he was scoring for fun ?.

We are were we are because a combo of things from the Jan window, bringing in players no better than the ones that have gone or ones dumped on the bench, match day team selection and tactics always looking to hold one “draws are good”, very poor unnecessary subs been made and a total lack of player motivation man management skills. So say your are unbeaten in 6:-
            6 draws 0 losses = 6pts
            3 wins 3 losses = 9pts

Many a game I’ve seen Cook telling the players to slow it down when we were drawing especially at home when really those players should be pressing for a winner and it’s those games that have cost us and left us were we are not the games were we were fair and square beaten by the better side.

At the end of the day, we have seen glimpses of what our players “can” do with excellent perfomances Against Stoke and Villa so we know it’s there, even the Ipswich till Cook made subs. And there’s more early on were I thought we were excellent, lost but we’re simply unlucky and it could have gone either way.

For me, he’s gotta go, just get anyone to take over, coaches whoever. Its 9 games for God sake not 19 so we just need the players to shake off the Cook shackles and relagation cloud and look at our next 2 games as our Cup finals.

When your manager says he feels physically sick with worry then I’m sorry but that sends out all the wrong messages to the players.

If he stays and we set our stall out as we have done since Christmas then I can only see us going down. We only stand a true chance if he’s gone. Those players at Blackburn weren’t the same ones at Ipswich , they’ve gone

If you’re saying that it is his tactics (I agree on occasions) then whoever comes in needs to be able to change those for the good. Joyce for example couldn’t do that. Solskjaer at United has got them playing a totally different way to how Mourinho did as well as lifting the cloud. If we are blaming Cook’s tactics then we need someone to do both as well.

Was he not saying he felt physically sick at how we lost to Reading and not with regards to us going down?

That is a point though in terms of his comments. He has been positive when we have lost before and has been chastised for it. As soon as he mentions something negative he gets chastised for it.

I don’t think we can afford to play for a point in many games at the moment. We need to get 4 or 5 points ahead again before we even consider that, BUT the fact is we are 1 goal outside the bottom 3 so we need to make sure we don’t just give away goals like we did on Tuesday. I’ve never quite understood the “may as well lose 2-0 than 1-0” comments with goal difference hanging around.

When I first started posting on here I often thought that vat got a bit of a raw deal, but this one has changed my mind, not sure how you can takes some sort of pleasure or satisfaction about our team losing or being in danger of relegation. We are clearly in the mix and need something to turn round for us. I don’t think that cooks removal would be reactionary you simply have to look at the points trend and project that forward, the challenge of course is whether it would make a difference if he went or not, and unfortunately non of us know that. We also need to attract someone who could turn it round and really for me only big Sam would fit the bill, but I cannot see that happening, not a chance. In the meantime whilst cook is there he and the team need support. I was in Barcelona with work last night and took the opportunity to go to the match last night, Andy the crowd got really twitch at 2-1 despite looking comfy, even at that level the crowd turns.

I’m not proud to say it but I put €50 on Wigan to go down before Reading game (14/1). I genuinely don’t want to collect, in a way it’s like life insurance, big pay out but you hope you don’t collect. I’m worried though and what concerns me most is whether this team is up for the fight. A team that includes some players on short term loans with no real connection to club and others nearing end of contract that will be gone in the summer. I just hope their professionalism proves me wrong, but the second half of Blackburn game was shocking to see the way they gave up.

                    I would prefer us to,
Play for a win and a draws a bonus rather than
play for a draw and a 1-0 loss is a bonus

I think some people tend to forget, belt and braces football has got us here. Sometimes you “have” to take chances in a game and especially in the position we are going safety first every game especially with I’d say a team of OK,ish players you are bound to come unstuck.

Both Millwall and Rotherham went to their away games solely to win and Rotherham threw the garden stink at them late on and it paid off. We went to Blackburn like a beaten side, heads looking at their laces from the moment the first ball was kicked we looked lost and devoid of idea’s on how to win a game.

I simply could never imagine Cook in a million years doing what Rotherham did at 1-1. He would have been dancing in the tunnel with a point and dragged a forward off while doing his “slow it down” hand signals palms faced down.
And some will be saying “What if we get done ??”, what if what if what if, it doesn’t stop opposing sides doing it to us late on !

And that’s the reason why he has to go, if he stays then I can only think that the IEC have another agenda with our club and ground and “Bake-off Final” live from pitch side along with “Monster Trucking” and even Crufts might be on the cards

Ultimately Cook may get hounded out, but he could try to doggedly carry on. It has been a wuff time recently, and it’s a relentless league so there’s no time for paws. People may cur-se him, but life’s a bitch they say.
