Is it just me that is sick to death of seeing this gesture?

Originally it was a mark of defiance for a career criminal that brutally lost his life due a police officer being over aggressive. For some reason the US taking the knee suddenly became a thing over here, at first to show solidarity to the US.

It then became the Premier League’s (amongst other sports) go to gesture to tackle racism. It is not and never has been for that purpose .

I see now that we have stopped doing it again, after going back to it after a break.

      Have I missed something?

Away a lot, but always watching

I’ve been sick of it from day one if i’m honest, not sure they’ve stopped doing it though, absolutely no need for it in football, especially when the “Kick Racism Out” slogan is plastered all over stadiums. (Is it not racist towards white people?)

Anyway it came out recently that Wilfred Zaha says he will no longer take to the knee because he believes the protest is no longer sufficient.

Hopefully others will see sense and follow suit!

        Fuck the EFL

Yes, because white players are constantly being sent racial abuse online

Thats not right either, we should start some sort of protest, how about standing tall?

Shouldn’t that be what this is all about for all creeds and colours?

A protest? Yes…we could shout catchy slogans at empty offices. That worked wonders when you lot did it at Begbies. They were outthe club within half an hour.

Thats why these admin clowns are taking the piss because no one challenges them people just sit on their fat arses moaning on forums, the SC could do a lot more as well.

You’ll be moaning like fuck on here if/when we are liquidated and Wigan Athletic is dead!

            :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

And supposedly when/if we get bought out the bew owners when asked why Wigan will say

“Well we saw a bunch of blokes in a doorway shouting “what do we want? Unfair! When do we want it? Change!” at an empty building and thought bugger me, lets go throw a load of money at that club”

Do tell oh great one, what would you like the SC do that they can a) legally do and b) that won’t make the admins tell them to f*** off which will orevent them from being able to save the club with the fans bid they talk about which may well be what saves us?

People keep criticising the supporters club and asking them to say this that and the other. What they don’t realise is that if they come out and criticise the admins or the efl or talk about bidders then nobody will trust them again and the one thing they need is the trust of the parties involved.

If you tell your mate down the pub a secret and he then posts it on social media, the chances are you’re not going to be his mate for very long.

The difference here is the supporters club could get sued as opposed to a possible punch in the face.

Thats it 4231 lad. Im sure JayT and the others would love to post stuff on here but they cant and it wouldnt do them any good.

I know when the firm i work for was taking another business over we all had to sign an NDA to keep quiet until it was released and half the firm didnt even know about it until the last minute. Its what happens in business.

              Back on topic….

Any gesture is an empty gesture when players are being racially abused online almost daily. Some lad called Ian Wright a monkey on twitter and got a slapped wrist. Until there is severe punishments handed down, taking the knee or any other gesture is just that, a gesture and you can see why the likes of Zaha would get annoyed by it.

Stupid Stu, read that very slowly, no longer sufficient, he means the whole load of Americanised bollocks has died a death, the point has been made, move on.

I said: Until there is severe punishments handed down, taking the knee or any other gesture is just that, a gesture and you can see why the likes of Zaha would get annoyed by it.

Zaha said: I’m not here just to tick boxes. Unless action is going to happen, don’t speak to me about it.’

Think I’ve understood it pretty well thanks Bullshit.

No dicking about here Stu, true this.

Just before Christmas last year i was spoken to very nastily (i won’t say abused) because it didn’t bother me by a Asian taxi driver he mentioned my colour in his comment, it was 100 yards from the Police Station on Robin Park Road.

I could have got his Reg number and pulled in to report him to the Police, but i didn’t, no need to cause a fuss for name calling.

His face was a picture at the lights at Red Robin when i caught him up a minute later, i bet that taxi stunk later on.

                  Sticks and stones.

I see now that we have stopped doing it again, after going back to it after a break.

I think it is mandatory for the Premier League and optional for the EFL clubs unless they are on Sky Sports when they have to do it. If you see Wigan take the knee only occasionally then it will probably mean the other club are still adopting it every game.

As for its relevence and whather its made a difference – I would say it hasnt and the online trolling has got worse. Whether it is the boredom of lockdown or the constant stream of BLM and race issues being pushed at the public or a mixture of both is up for debate. I was listening to a podcast the other day where the feeling was that the sheer number of CCTV cameras have driven racial abuse of footballers from the stands to social media and we will still be talking about it in 30 years time.

Personally, I feel that the run up to that referendum has emboldened the racists in the UK and the result has made them think in their warped minds that they have a letitimacy to abuse foreigners.

I’ve not seen Wigan do it for a few games now, I think Brentford and Hull have publicly said they won’t in future.

Racism shouldn’t exist, period. But taking a knee is not a stand against racism, just a protest thing in America.
