Interesting to see that there is not one mention of Cowie yet Rosler probably pencils him in straight away when choosing the team! Fcuk knows why coz he is shite! Edit-There is one mention of him but that was from a rugby fan and so that doesn’t count!
He is not shite. He does a similar job to Kvist and Huys I just don’t think you need two of them and I think Huys is a bit more positive thinking. I wouldn;t hjave a problem with Cowie as one of the two holding midfielders.
Cowie is what Cantona used to describe as a water carrier. Much of what he does goes unnoticed and isn’t spectacular. That doesn’t make him shite.
He keeps giving the ball away! Watch him tonight!
30 September 2014 at 4:00 pm #133796It’s blindingly obvious, he plays players he likes on a personal level and those he doesn’t ? they just don’t figure.
He needs to drop the ego and play players for their ability and not base the number of appearances they achieve on them both sharing the same star sign and the same favorite colour or they both shop at Marks & Sparks. It’s not like he goes out socially with them talking about the weather or does he ?? :)30 September 2014 at 6:45 pm #133797Interesting to see that there is not one mention of Cowie yet Rosler probably pencils him in straight away when choosing the team! I do watch him every game, all game. What a ridiculous sweeping statement to say he keeps giving the ball away.
30 September 2014 at 9:59 pm #133798Roger is hardly a world beater but he is just another alternative as a left sided player at left back.
But we already have two left backs, both helpfully called Taylor. Why would you pick someone who isn’t a left back by trade (and not very good to boot, imo) when we have just signed two proper ones?
Didn’t Espinoza play left back in the cup final against city? He was outstanding like the rest of the team on that world stage. B)
Why try and get a cheap pun in at Roger’s expense?.

I was surprised when Stephen Crainey didn’t get kept on. He too worked his socks off against Arsenal. Is Andrew Taylor any better?
Yep, Roger was great that never to be forgotten day eg the final clearance before close of play. He sliced it a bit though, should have booted it into row ZZ. Bloody rubbish Wigan
1 October 2014 at 3:44 am #133806Now I don’t know at all what the craic is with Espinoza, but you have to consider that now three managers, Martinez, Coyle and Rosler, have ALL basically sidelined him.
If it was just one you could consider to be a failing by one manager to see a good player – but three seems to indicate to me there is something in his attitude, his training, his relations with other players, or whatever, something that makes managers keep him out of the team.

Fair point.
But why hasn’t he been sold to Burnley or some equally Godforsaken place?

I don’t think there is any hidden agenda here GL, he’s just not very good, except at running his socks off which seems to be justification enough for some on here to insist he should start every game.

Do you mean in your opinion he’s not very good? the reason I say that is because I and many others, think he’s not a bad player. Don’t forget he has never been given a long run in the team and when he has been called upon, it’s been for various different roles.
Yes he does do a lot of running around trying to impose himself in the game, but he can tackle, score long range goals, remember his screamer against MK Dons in the cup, he gives 100% when he is called upon which the team needs at the moment, last night excluded.I really think its unfair to put this player down for the impact he’s made when called upon.
Having said that I have always been a Jordie Gomez fan, so what do I know. :woohoo:From Matlock to ManU

As for Espinoza he is often reckless in the tackle so I wouldn’t say he was particularly skilled at that. He has been known to score the odd long range goal but I wouldn’t think that alone would be enough to justify his place in the team. Putting in 100% effort should be expected from every player so again I don’t think this singles him out above others who do the same.
And I’m not putting the player down. I’m having pop at those on here who, just because he runs around a lot, think he should be an automatic choice. There are better players at the club who can do the role he is supposed to be good at, in my opinion of course.

I wasn’t trying to put an case for him being in the team, I was just stating that there was no need [ in my opinion] to make him sound useless.
As for players giving 100%, have you watched Wigan play in all the games since the Blackburn game up to last night?

No need for the parentheses JR, I accept your comment to be your own opinion.
I never said or implied he was useless just that there are better players at the club to fulfil that role.
Whilst the performances of late have been poor I still don’t think his style of play, for the reasons I mentioned previously, is an argument for his inclusion in the team.
